Anyone into this? I've always wanted to get into it, but just don't have the time to play or the skill to paint the miniatures.

Does anyone read the books? If so, where's a good place to start reading that won't confuse the hell out of me.

Never got into it really, we always RPG'd old school, dice and our imagination, though that was partly due to our uncle never letting near his minis. I know plenty of people that do though and it can be a huge investment, both of time and money. I know a guy who has about 40 thousand minis all painted by him.

Can't help you on the books either, sorry.

My son wanted to get into this when he was about 16 and wanted to buy the huge expensive kit right off the bat. I talked him out of it and suggested he get the small starter kit. Sure enough after only painting up about half of them he lost interest. (I had to rub it in that sometimes Mom is right! - lol) We do have some friends that are into this and their figures and landscape scenes are incredible but damn that is just too expensive.

yeah a buddy of mine is into the gamnig portion of it and does all his own mini painting and landscapes. He's pretty impressive.


I'm more interested in the books at this point. I don't have the time to get into the gaming side of it, but the storylines seem pretty interesting and in depth and would like to read some of the books.
