Hello,
just wanted to buy Cold City for my kindle, but there seem to be 2 different versions, not both available in all countries - what is it?

Here (if logged out) I am offered a kindle copy (released on 26th Nov) for $4.04
http://www.amazon.com/Cold-City-Repairman-Jack-ebook/dp/B00AEDQS9A

But once logged in, I cannot buy it from USA (but from where could I?)

The other (27th Nov) is too expensive for me, as I do not buy copies I do not own for the price of a materialized hardcover version of the same..
for $13.20:

If I log in, I seem to be able to receive the one and same kindle version for $12.99

What the heck?
Can someone help me understand these versions available? Are there any differences in content between the one released on 26th and the one released on 27th?

thanks, Reader

I do not control pricing on US/Canada Kindle editions -- that is set by MacMillan which holds US/Canadian rights. I do however control pricing on Kindle editions sold overseas which is why they are much cheaper. (But you must be in those countries to buy them.)

addendum: that first link is the overseas edition (cover by our own Susan Lee, btw). You can buy it in UK, France, Germany, Japan, India, etc.

Hi,
thanks for the info.
I did deregister my kindle from US and register to my EU address, and just bought the book for 3€ - great Smile
Indeed, this is a price I'm willing to pay AND I'll be able to put a neat amount of your books into my (physical) shelf.

so.. I guess there's no difference in these two versions? I have them both available in EU, also..

btw: did you know the kindle offers a "publishers font" option? If the publisher likes a font more than the default kindle ones, he can set it and I can then read with your most beloved font Smile
I currently have my kindle in front of me, with Pullmans Dark Materials Omnibus version, and I must say the layout & font really look great!

cu,
Joseph.
