This was a lot of fun to see in a crowded theater. People felt free to cheer on their favorite hotties during dance routines. The audience was mostly women but a few guys were there (mainly dragged there by their girlfriends from what I could tell). One guy, to embarass his girlfriend, shouted "yeah, my man Matthew" when Matthew appeared on stage. It added to the fun.

Definitely go while it's still popular enough to draw large crowds.

Why do I always do this to myself???

So far most of the women told me they didn't like it (the rare exceptions said they were fans of one actor or another and/or liked the dancing for its skill). One told me she thought it was more of a male sex fantasy than a woman's and gave good reasons for saying that, IMO, like saying there was a lot more female nudity than male and the men were doing things that they generally do in male porn novels (she didn't say that exactly, she described it and it sounded so much like a male porn novel me and some girls read to each other back in middle school laughing furiously over it after her boyfriend gave it to her to show "what guys want"). Another agreed with her saying that it was falsely advertised. And since there wasn't much of a story (one did say something about an "after school special on why drugs are bad tacked on" but I forget the details) I'm surprised this is popular. One told me she was going to wait to see on TV and another said she might get it (to see for the first time) if she can find it in the dvd bin for under $6.

And it's not that they're prudes or anything (though a few did say they prefer "mystery" to "explicit") as they can enjoy movies like Dirty Dancing (at least a few of those who told me not to watch this).

So far the only one who raved to me (ETA: in real life, not counting the internet) how awesome this movie was (and how hot the men are) has been a gay man.

I don't know why, Dervish...but my best friend and I had a good time watching the movie and the audience's reactions. I've been to a couple of the all male shows in NYC....similar and then again not. And yes I know....most of those dancers are gay.
I didn't go to the movie to watch a classic...although some of the abs and butts were niiiiiice. Smile

it cracks me up that women are going to see a movie about strippers and men are going to see a movie about a teddy bear

Odd, I didn't get the feeling at all that the movie was geared more for men than women. The audience (mostly female) seemed to enjoy what they were watching too.

I think there may have been a couple of scenes of female nudity (bare breasts) but meh...Porn that's geared for men has male nudity yet men still like their porn. So why complain about bare breasts in a couple of scenes?

The story was weak but who cares about that? Big Grin

Ted was hysterical...but I love Family Guy and that type of humor anyway.
