An excellent movie about the last days of the Nazi regime. It was good to see that the film was more about the stories of those involved then one that tried to garner sympathy for the same people.

It did a tremendous job of showing how Hitler, even as he was being destroyed by disease, was really trying to hold on to his beliefs.

It was also interesting to see the loyalty displayed by Eva Braun and the other Nazi's that occupied the Berlin Bunker in those final days as well as the horrors they committed as well (Magda Goebbels was a monster).

If you know your history, there is nothing really new or revealing in this film, its just an excellent portrayl of those times and how the Reich's downfall finally happened.

It is in German, so again, subtitles are present, unless you speak German.

(One of the scenes in the bunker has been used over and over as spoofs on youtube about Hitler not liking the end of LOTR or that his car was stolen. )

The story of the Nazis is endlessly fascinating. How Hitler lead the land of Goethe and Bach to build the death camps...

My father served in France, anti-aircraft cannoneer. My uncle Hans, a Waffen-SS sergeant in the campaign against the Soviets.

Talked with him in 1968. "Michael! We were fighting the Communists! What is America doing in Viet Nam?"

"Not trying to take over the world, Uncle Hans."

"Yes, Michael. You have it already!"

"Better the USA than Stalin and his heirs. Am I right?"

"Theresa! Two more beers, bitte! This is getting interesting!~"

The very first internet spoof I saw of that scene was Hitler pissed off that someone stole his car. They did a great job with syncing up the dialogue when one of the officers mentions the SS and they used it as the officer telling Hitler he should get a Camaro SS.

All the others sppofs just never lived up to that one for me.
