Anyone else catch the first episode of Torchwood, Miracle Day on Starz? It is an interesting idea for a TEOTWAWKI based story. The idea is suddenly one day no one on Earth can die. People who survive fatal accidents and every kind of death that would normally happen stop.

It is a Torchwood series so I imagine it will come back to some sort of alien interference, but some of the foundation building seems to be very cool and worth a look. Like one of the storylines is about a convicted child killer who was being put to death at the time the change happens, he survivies and wrangles his way out of prison.

At one point they talk about the population on Earth and how it will very quickly be beyond sustainable levels. I can't remember the numbers, but they do a death vs. birth thing and it happens much faster than you would imagine.

I don't have faith in Starz as far as series go, but this one has me interested and I will watch it to see if it can keep me interested.

I moved this thread to Entertainment as that seemed more appropriate than Contests, Games and Book Clubs. If I am an wrong please let me know and it will be moved back.

That reminds me of a book I read a long time ago where a cure for death was found. There was a guy who was hung and kept dying from strangulation. The cure also worked for things that were already dead. So dinosaurs came back to life. (Flesh started growing over fossils in museums.)

I've probably spoiled it too much.

If you happen to remember the name of the book...let me know. It sounds interesting.

I've probably forgotten more than I remember. And I'm most likely only remembering parts that stood out to my 14-15 year old mind (at the time, not now).

It's Fire by Alan Rodgers. Amazon has two different listings for it. One listing has positive reviews and the other has negative.

You're wrong!!! You're wrong!!! No really, you are correct. I was viewing the TEOTWAWKI book of the month club thread and remembered this, posted it without much thought. Thanks for moving it to its correct location.

So they showed the new Torchwood in the US on the same day as here. That's interesting, I thought you were always a bit behind us, as we are with Anmerican TV.

Anyway, like Brian, I recorded it till I have time to watch. And time is in rather short supply at the moment! Hence me not being on much lately. Oh, I know how much you have all been missing me! Smile

Well, I've never seen one do THAT before

Yeah I think we got it at the same time because of channels that broadcast it here are owned by the same company.

And of course we miss you Peter. Hopefully you are busy for good reasons and not bad.

That's very kind of you MadAm!

Four days off camping at the British Grand Prix with all the booze and lack of sleep that involved then making up time at work since I got back whilst feeling like doing nothing but sleep for a week.

Almost though I was getting too old for a while, but then (as you do) thought f*** it and carried on Smile
