I pray they do not fuck up the prequel. I've worshipped every entity I can think of in hopes that it will be good. It's impossible (IMO) to make a better horror film than JC's version, so I will settle for good.
JC's Prince of Darkness is also excellent and I think one of his truly unappreciated works.
The japanese(?) film Kairo, which we know of as Pulse (Kristin Bell was in the crappy remake) remains probably my favorite ghost movie of all time.

"Hello.... Hello.... I've got a message for you... and you're not going to like it" (cue body falling apart because it was filled with insects!)
The creepy as hell shared dream... "we're transmitting from the year 199..." with that shadow form in the doorway of the church.
The hand coming through at the end, the sacrifice, Donald Pleasance...
It just worked for me on every level.
Plus it had half the cast of Big Trouble in Little China.

I really really liked the movie "Descent" as well and know a lot of people who didn't like it. It made me feel claustraphobic and I thought was a scary tale of how humans can act when put in horrorific situations.
