Man, "Mine" (McCammon) was pretty good, having kids myself, it really got under my skin.

I'm going back to an old staple, "Second Child" by John Saul. I really like Saul, but why the hell does this guy write almost every single one of his books with a child protagonist? It kind of annoys me, but they're still pretty good books. I actually have like a special place in my mind for John Saul. Back in the late eighties, I was around 12 or so, I made a conscious decision to switch from my Mad, Encyclopedia Brown, and Choose Your Own Adventure books to "grownup" novels. So I went to the store and "Hellfire" was what I bought. It was my first horror novel. I've still got it.

You know.. wow, that's crazy.. I just realized that was the exact same store, same town, where I found my autographed copy of "By The Sword" last year. Quite a coincidence considering I've only been there a few times in my life and I moved 1700 miles away and back in the interim.

I have almost all John Saul's older books. If you want to read a good one of his that doesn't involve kids you should read Manhattan Hunt Club. Great book! I did enjoy Second Child too.

I just started The Hunger Games 2 days ago. I want to get it finished so I can see the movie this weekend. I'm so hooked on this book. Its great. A friend of mine has it on Kindle and we did the "Kindle Lend" thing. That is so neat!

Last night I finished reading "Uprising" by Scott G. Mariani. If you're looking for new vampire novel, trust me, just buy this book.
I'm confident in saying that is the best vampire novel since I read Midnight Mass! It's fast paced with a lot of action, with great characters such as vampire agent Alex Bishop, human detective Joel Solomon, and bad evil vampire;Gabrial Stone. I couldn't put it down. Now I just started next book, The Cross.

Any love for Charlie Huston here? The Joe Pitt series is stunning, "The Mystic Art of Erasing All Signs of Death" was great, and "The Shotgun Rule" blew me away. A real noir talent. Fans of vampire stories will love the Joe Pitt series in particular.

I love his Hank Thompson series but have never read Joe Pitt. I'll have to give it a try.

I started The Hunger Games last night. I didn't realize till I went to buy it a couple weeks ago that it was a YA novel, which is obvious in the writing style. However, with that said, its pretty good so far for what it is. No one says you have to be a YA to enjoy a YA novel, right? Mindless fun and something that doesn't take much effort to follow is good every now and then.

Ha! So did I. I found a box set, used on Amazon for 12 bucks. They are in pristine condition too. Because I ordered a bunch of other stuff...shipping was free. Smile
