I've been wondering for a while now if the gaijin katana would have been able to harm or kill the Fhinntmanchca in ground zero.

Im still working on finishing Black Wind right now, so if something in that story answers this, feel free to call me out for the newbie i am.

Also, this is my first post!

Welcome! I don't have an answer for that off hand, but I'm sure someone will be able to help. Many people here consider Black Wind to be one of FPWs greatest books.

Welcome to the board!!!! we are excited to have you join us.

As for your question...I am not sure there is a definitive yes or no answer to this. I am sure it will spark some intersting responses from the forum members though...I just don't have an opinion on it because I have a difficult time pondering what if scenarios. That's just me though.

Again, welcome to the board and feel free to post a whole lot more!

I wondered the same thing while reading By the Sword. I hadn't read Black Wind yet so I assumed that the sword was gonna be more integral to BTS's specific plotline. I guessed that maybe Jack would lure the fhinntmanchca to where he could access the sword. Turned out I assumed too much. I'm still looking forward to see if/how it figures into The Dark at the End.

Interesting question. But I think that katana has greater purpose.

Black Wind will answer some questions for you, and leave you with others.

Don't worry about being a "newbie" jump right in. If it seems like a topic is over your head don't worry once your here long enough you'll realize that even the "regulars" don't always know what they're talking about.

I wish I could answer your question. But I don't know. I haven't read Nightworld yet. I've owned it for 4 years now but have been told to wait until Jack's story is told before I read it. So soon... just one more book!- Yes there are 3 more pre-Tomb novels coming out but at this point I'm not waiting any longer. Once I read that last page of The Dark at The End. I will be savoring it for a few minutes and then be at my bookshelf grabbing Nightworld.

Again jump right in.

Wow. I am impressed. 4 years and you have resisted reading Nightworld? Good gravy, I couldn't have lasted 4 days. Big Grin

Although I have still only read the original, I read the entire AC and any other F. Paul Wilson work I could get my hands on before there was ever a second Jack book. I am very excited to read the revised Nightworld.

Oh and welcome to the board Dorkules.

I understand that. If you didn't it could possibly spoil some of the story line of RJ. I read it before there was an RJ series, but if I hadn't I think I would do the same as you and Jeff. I say "I think" because I don't know if I could resist but I would try at least.Smile

I think it would have. If not killed it outright, wounded it very severely. At one point while I was reading I thought that would be the outcome, but no, FPW threw another curve ball at me.Big Grin

Because he didn't use it, I think it will be a factor in the final revision of "Night World". I don't want to include spoilers to explain why, so I'll leave it at that.

As speculation, it may not fit into Dark At The End. But I'll bet it's definitely a part of Nightworld.
