Fill in the blank please, waiting for the last book has my brain starving already. Looking for a long possibly open-ended series.

P.S. I enjoy fantasy as long as the characters & reactions in it are realistic. By that I mean they react the way people really act, not the fairytale bs mantra that fills most books. FPW, Chuck Palahniuk, & Robert Kirkman have pretty much spoiled me in that dept. To the point of finding the standard lovey dovey/good guys always win storyline to be boring.

Any & all suggestions would be appreciated.[URL="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Kirkman"]

Well since you are open to a suggestions, I am going to recommend Louis L'Amour's Sackett Series. Start with Sackett's Land: The Sacketts. While the western genre is a 180 from scifi/horror, you'll find characters with no official identity and a strong sense of honor who often find that they have to break the law to do what is right.

I only suggested the Sacketts because you seemed to be looking for a series. He also has 6 or 7 volumes of short stories and about 50 or 60 novels. My personal favorite character is Chick Bowdrie who appears in Bowdrie and Bowdrie's Law. He is a Texas Ranger who has an outlaw past. He was recruited by the Rangers because the didn't want to fight him.

Delve into L'Amour and let me know what you think.

Best.

Welcome!!

Have you read any of Lee Child's books? He has a Jack Reacher series that has a "few" books in it. Smile

Ah, fresh meat. Welcome aboard.

I do enjoy Graham Masterton. He's all gothic and Lovecraft-inspired. I'd reccomend "Pariah" and "Walkers". One of his books was made into a movie called The Manitou ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077904/ ). Scared the crap out of me when I was 9.

Thanks for the welcomes and the suggestions. I am currently reading Koontz's Frankenstein series in between Jack novels so I will throw that one into the ring because i am enjoying the hell out of it. And speaking of Koontz, the Odd Thomas series is great as well.

I agree. The Strain is great stuff.
I'm a Lee Child fan as well, the Reacher character just gets better and better.

Neil Gaiman is an awesome author, and as for fanatsy where the people are realistic, try Sabriel by Garth Nix.

"Lord, what fools these mortals be"

"The opposite of war isn't peace; it's creation."

You'd think that Killing people would make them like you, but it doesn't! it just makes people dead.
