OK before I procede I would like everyone to know I have not yet read all the postings on the RJ Movie and such. Also I am a bad speller so bare with me.

Now I am completely in love with this series as I am sure everyone here is. I am dying to see it on the screen as well. However I do not think it would work as a movie. Mostly becuase there are so many books, and if anything the person playing Jack would not hold up in age being how long it would take to film each movie.

So I present another Idea. A Mini Series.

I would have to be on HBO or Showtime I would think. But think about it. You could cover a whole book in one if not two episodes (no commercials), Each book lasts about a week so the pace would be perfect. You could complete the whole series of books in two seasons, and I am damn sure it would be known as the best series ever on television. Now I'm not going to get into who should play who and such, I just wanted to know what everyone thought of this idea. I am probably not the first to come up with the idea but I am still curious. Make the episodes and hour to and hour and a half. How two seasons. I think it would be a hit. So please let me know what you all think. And hold off on the bashing and mean remarks, I'm just a jack lover who wants to have a fun conversation.

Love you FPW

Welcome to the board Marty.

As far as a mini series/cable series is concerned I think it could definitely work and work well if the right people did it, but, the ownership of the film rights to RJ would be a major obstacle in that ever happening. I like the idea, don't think it will ever happen unfortunately.

Stick around, its a nice board, it really is.

Welcome, Marty!

If a top-quality tv series (like LOST, for example) could be done, I'd love to see it happen. But like Mad American said, those dang film rights probably make this an impossible dream.

Anything can happen, but I'll be completely shocked if RJ ever makes it to the screen, big or small.

Thinking along Marty's way, BTW..welcome.
Suppose the first movie was made and then the series. Sort of like what was done with Serenity.

I think Beacon would only own the rights to the story of The Tomb. RJ is FPW's baby and he should be able to option any of the other books. It's a good question though. I hope FPW pops in and answers it. Beacon's been on the case for a decade and they haven't even come close to production. Screw them.

Sorry not to be a anal pain in the scrotum but the Firefly/Serenity thing went in the other direction; TV series then movie.

I had thought about saying the same thing . . . but didn't. Big Grin

But a movie and then a TV series sounds good to me.

Welcome to the board.

Like many others on the board I sadly feel this will never happen (film or TV)

About 2 years ago it felt that things were moving, but my understanding is it has all gone quiet

If FPW pops into this thread I'd be interested to know if he feels that any of his ideas have been blatantly ripped if by film or TV

Brian Lumley had similar things to say at WHC about getting Necroscope to the big screen, and he seemed very bitter that he felt his ideas had been ripped off a number of times

That would be so awesome! RMJ as a miniseries! The Necroscope and tales of Harry Keogh too?! I'd be in miniseries heaven. Too bad it's just a dream. Sad
