Brian Wrote:Alright, two questions then. I'm still gathering info. Smile
First, where did Desmond disappear to? He was on the plane, then apparently not.
Second, where did Christian, complete with coffin get to?

Insufficient data to answer either, for me, at any rate. I'll wait a few episodes and get some more information.

I'll put forward an observation. Jack saw Desmond. Rose and Bernard didn't; they said they were sleeping. And Desmond didn't interact with the stewardess or anyone but Jack. Just Jack saw Desmond. You can take that anywhere you'd like.

The stewardess on the Oceanic flight becomes one of the Others from the temple. Something about her bothers me....can't put my finger on it yet....but something isn't right. And it didn't bother me until I read Maggers last post.

Don't forget Juliet's "It worked." If it worked, she traversed from two planes of time into one. However, Jacob is still traversing planes, I guess, in an effort to unify them into the one plane that the season will end with. Desmond was pulled back into another plane, Christian too, and Juliet, upon her death, entered the final plane.

Thus we have the two elements of the previous seasons at work: flashbacks, older planes, and flashforwards, newer planes, which were opened by the h-bomb. Typical Star Trek: 101. See Star Trek: Next Generation series finale: "All Good Things..."

AC

P.S. Anyone one else see the Rasalom/Glaaken balance? When the balance is broken, that's when the planes of existence/time scatter (see Star Trek: Next Generation, where there are many Enterprises appearing from different planes of time at the present point and time; all Enterprises must be destroyed before the actual timeline can be restored:also see STNG Yesterday's Enterprise and Future Imperfect).

I wonder where Jack got the little cut on this neck or what it represents. He discovers it when he goes into the bathroom for the first time on the plane, then he returns to his seat and encounters Desmond. Rose has her back to Desmond and Jack; she's deep in conversation with Bernard.

Also, in the underwater scene of the Island post-apocalyptic event (of whatever sort), did anyone notice the Dharma logo on the shark? Big Grin Love it!

Cobalt, what about the stewardess bothers you? She has pretty much the same conversation with Jack that she did on the original plane (I'm about 80% sure of that, I need to check). Her hair is much longer in the Temple and she's gone native with funky stuff braided into her hair, but it's her.

I also love that when Hurley finally picks up a gun to protect himself and Sayid from what eventually turns out to be Jacob's ghost, he can't work it. Everyone else on that Island who has touched a gun has worked magic with it. They check, they click, they lock, they load, all smoothly and effortlessly, and that's no matter the gun, rifle, or automatic weapon. But Hurley just can't do it. It's a bit of almost unnoticed comedy, and that's another thing I like about the show.

I also like Froghurt sleeping in his seat between Boone and Locke as they talk about Locke's "walkabout."

It's not the conversation on the plane...it's that she's part of the temple group. She was one of the first to be taken those first few nights on the island I believe. There is something about her that has me wondering. Maybe we'll see her story explained...maybe I'm wrong.

Just in case anyone is interested here is the opening scenes from season one and this season side by side:
http://www.buzzfeed.com/dustind/lost-oce...y-side-em8
It is very interesting to see a couple obvious changes. Things that are different and would have been almost on purpose to miss. Like the plane wing in the window, jack in an opposite seat, jack only getting one bottle instead of two. I can see small changes in conversation and stuff being missed but things like that seem very obvious to miss. Unless it is on purpose.

"Sanity? Worthless things like that, I never had them for as long as I can remember!"

And Jack has long hair now. I wonder what that significance is.

There's also the podcast:

I noticed those minor changes, but didn't think they were worth commenting on. More minutia than anything else, and the Flash Sideways is showing us a DIFFERENT reality, or potential reality, or alternate reality, so things will be different.

I firmly believe that in areas like this, the writers are very careful and are looking at befores and afters very carefully. Nothing winds up on screen by accident.

Yes, and she and all the Others, including Richard Alpert, were sent by Ben to the Temple when Ben went hiking off with Alex to to the radio tower at the end of Season 3. Then, in Season 4, when the Frieghter Folk were about to attack the Dharma houses where Locke, Ben, Hurley, Claire, Aaron, Sawyer, Miles, Danielle, Alex, and Carl were staying, Ben tells Danielle to take Alex (who then takes Carl), to the Temple where his people were. Carl asks why can't the rest of the group go, and Ben gives Carl a wonderfully typical Ben look and says, because the Temple isn't for them, it's for US.

The stewardess has shown up in a few episodes as an Other. One episode was when Juliet was being judged and then branded for having killed Pickett, the really nasty Other who kept beating on Sawyer when Sawyer was in the cages.

The stewardess was also in the episode when Locke was told by Ben to kill his father in front of all the Others. She tells Locke that the Others were smiling at him because they think he is someone special.

The stewardess is shown always with a smile and usually taking care of the two kids who were rescued by Mr. Eko and Ana Lucia in the episode on the Tailies. So it seems that the stewardess became a reasonably happy Other from the beginning of her captivity.

Does that help?
