I'm a little annoyed today. Only a little though, not that big of a deal.

Gauntlet has said the only place to buy FPW limiteds will be from them directly. They would no longer sell to other dealers. Well, I usually buy from other dealers due to discounts and bonuses. I preordered Secret Circles, from Gauntlet, to make sure I got a copy asap (since no other dealers will be selling them).

Today I get an email from Overlook saying that if I buy Secret Circles from them, I'd get a bonus "FREE Signed Book Cover!". I guess I should have f**king known f**king better!Big Grin

Those of you who have not ordered yet, may want to shop Overlook instead to get the free signed Book Cover (whatever that is).

The book cover is this postcard type thing that has a picture of the cover artwork. Gauntlet has been including them with their preorders since Paul stopped doing outlines. Only the lettered editions get signed ones though.

Although the Secret Circles page mentions only the lettered editions.

I bought Ground Zero from Gauntlet. It came with the postcard (unsigned) that you mentioned. Is that a "Book Cover"? I was picturing something more substantial.

Actually, Gauntlet said that they would be selling a very FEW books to dealers. And it's likely that those few would be what they have left over.

A signed and numbered Repairman Jack book isn't enough?

Come on Foxie. Are you playing a game with me? Why wouldn't someone want to get as much for the money they earn as possible? My money isn't given to me for free. It isn't limitless. I have to earn it, and it isn't enough to do the things I'd like to do. I want as much as possible for it.

Obviously the book, to me, is worth it. I bought it didn't I? I've damn near bought them all! I'm fairly certain I have more fpw books than you do. There are very few editions on the bibliography that I don't have checked off. I'm not talking about 1 of each book. I'm talking about 1 of each publishing of each book, short story, whatever, from each publisher across the world. I'm also fairly certain I've spent more money on fpw books than you. Don't try to preach to me about the value of the book. I know what a book costs, and what it's worth. I'm a collector. I collect things. FPW books are one of the things I collect.

I'm saying I'd rather get an extra something with a purchase than not. If I could choose to get something cool and free with the book I would. I'm also saying that a "Book Cover", to me, sounds like something more than a 5x7" (whatever size it is) picture of the front of the dust jacket. That is a cool little something, but not as cool as what I picture a "Book Cover" to be.
