I finished up Season 1 of Brotherhood last night and its another winning cable series. It is the story of the Caffey family. They live in a declining area of Rhode Island where one brother has political aspirations and the other is a mobster. It is a cross between The Wire and The Sopranos. I didn't like it as much as either of those, but it is a quality show all the way around. The writing and acting are better than anything I find on regular TV. Annabeth Gish, looking beautiful, really shines as the wife of the politician as does Jason Isaacs as the mobster.

Isn't that at least semi-based on real brothers? I heard something on NPR or something like that.

They passed an old woman who was just opening the door of a brown Cadillac. An old man was already sitting in the passenger seat. The car had a personalized plate with the letters “J-U-S-P-R-A-Y”.
“That stuff work?” Israel said to her.
“‘Scuse me?” the little old woman said, clutching her keys.
“The spray. Does it keep them away?”
“Keep who away?” She looked confused.
“I gotcha.” Israel gave her a conspiratorial wink.

Can neither confirm nor deny but it certainly has a realistic quality to it.

Scott, I loved this series. It has such a great cast. My mother was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, so it's of special interest to me. Great show. Now, the question is, how many seasons did I see? I think I saw 2, maybe 3. Not sure about the 3rd. How many seasons have been filmed, do you know?

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.

I'm fairly certain that its run ended after 3 seasons. I liked it from the get-go but it really picked up in the last 4 or 5 episodes. I'm renting them from my library and they are not in demand so I can keep them for 9 weeks at a time. This season had several cliffhangers so Season 2 has already been ordered.
