My mother bought me a comic that was the whole story and I read it during lunch before we went to see it. Maybe I've seen it once or twice a long time ago since it was in the theater. I'd like my daughter to watch it with me, but I think it might creep her out. Sadly, I don't think she's going to like horror.

I confess...... I LOVE this movie! Big Grin

I went to a theatre see this movie when I was a teen.
All characters were not living human. All puppets. But they looked living. It's magic! And the story was mysterious and thrilling. Music by Trevor Jones is beautiful.

Does it stand up upon modern viewing?

3? Maybe your daughter would love Labyrinth(with Jennefer Connelly and David Bowie).

Yeah, because if Dark Crystal didn't scare her half to death, Labrynth will. Maybe I should get Legend while I'm at it. Big, red Tim Curry and his devil horn's are certain to do the trick. :yesnod:

They passed an old woman who was just opening the door of a brown Cadillac. An old man was already sitting in the passenger seat. The car had a personalized plate with the letters “J-U-S-P-R-A-Y”.
“That stuff work?” Israel said to her.
“‘Scuse me?” the little old woman said, clutching her keys.
“The spray. Does it keep them away?”
“Keep who away?” She looked confused.
“I gotcha.” Israel gave her a conspiratorial wink.

Legend, now there is a cool/weird movie, those goblins and Meg Mucklebones, oh those were some freaky monsters. On a related note, have you ever seen Return to Oz? I think you'd like it if you like the Dark Crystal and Labryinth. It may be a bit more kiddiefied but it still has an edge to it that makes it enjoyable to watch as an adult.

I liked "Return to Oz". That was another fantastic film in 80s.

OMG. I loved, loved, loved The Dark Crystal.

It's an 88 magnum. It shoots through schools.

I finally watched it last night. A lot more than I remembered, but I did find my attention dragging in places. I did like the skeksies and the other guys being 1/2 of a whole. The gelflings' dreamfast was corny and clever at the same time.

I'm actively searching for Return to Oz. I remember virtually none of this movie except where I saw it and who took me there and that Fairuza Balk was in it.

Return to Oz is pretty good, holds up pretty well. The beginning is actually rather dark considering this was supposed to be aimed at kids. Also, I think they are called the wheelies or wheelers, anyway they are creepy. Oh and the witch, she is a head case too. Kind of strange to see Merlin from Excalibur as the Gnome King though. I am not sure what you meant by looking for it as in to buy it or rent it, but you can find it on Amazon pretty cheap, it was worth the money to me.
