Dark Crystal - GeraldRice - 12-09-2009 I got this from my library and I can't wait to watch it again. I remember seeing this in the theater, although I don't recall about 90% of it. My mother bought me a comic that was the whole story and I read it during lunch before we went to see it. Maybe I've seen it once or twice a long time ago since it was in the theater. I'd like my daughter to watch it with me, but I think it might creep her out. Sadly, I don't think she's going to like horror. Dark Crystal - PicardRex - 12-09-2009 Nothing like a Jim Henson movie. I used to love this movie as a kid, some of those puppets still bother me. Although, I found my attention wandering upon recent viewing. I don't know how old your daughter is, but my 7 year old nephew was creeped out by some of the stuff, but that was about the age I watched it. So I had fond memories and creepy memories from it. Dark Crystal - GeraldRice - 12-09-2009 She's almost 3. But I didn't get it for her anyway. I can admit the truth. I remember one of the bad guys looking exceptionally creepy. I think he had a beak or something. Does it stand up upon modern viewing? Dark Crystal - Tony H - 12-09-2009 GeraldRice Wrote:She's almost 3. But I didn't get it for her anyway. Come to think of it, all the creatures in that movie were creepy. Even the girl's dog thing Fizzgig. Why do I remember this!?!?! Dark Crystal - Brian - 12-09-2009 I think I was 12 or so when this movie came out. Creeped me out in some scenes. That seer, the one with just one eye and the one with the big beak, creepy. Dark Crystal - icarusflu - 12-09-2009 I bought this a month or two ago on BluRay (at $10 I couldn't pass it up) I enjoyed it but my 8 year old didn't get into it. My mother developed a taste in me for creepy/scary. I saw Creepshow in the theater when I was in Kindergarten. I remember Fizzgig now that you write that. It is still worth watching though, the skeksis are the ones with the beaks and they are still creepy as hell. Also the scene where they have their feast or whatever is pretty good. Aughra, the scholar is still pretty creepy too and the beetle monster/troops are are as well. Overall I would say it holds up, to me it just dragged a little. Dark Crystal - Brian - 12-10-2009 Alright, all this talk about The Dark Crystal made me stop at Blockbuster on the way home, guess what we're watching tonight? I'm surprised BB has it. I was surprised my library had it too. But I'll be watching it after my daughter goes to sleep. I'm pretty sure she won't like it. I wonder if those creepy growing things from the Wiz will scare her, though... |
