Serious?!

Sam Worthington is the only worthy(ington) candidate.

That one's for you Persephone

-Wapitikev

Yes. He's an unknown. Good-looking in a plain sort of way. Physically unassuming, but he's got a good build. Forgettable.

They passed an old woman who was just opening the door of a brown Cadillac. An old man was already sitting in the passenger seat. The car had a personalized plate with the letters “J-U-S-P-R-A-Y”.
“That stuff work?” Israel said to her.
“‘Scuse me?” the little old woman said, clutching her keys.
“The spray. Does it keep them away?”
“Keep who away?” She looked confused.
“I gotcha.” Israel gave her a conspiratorial wink.

Actually, this guy would make a pretty good choice for Jack, but alas, as Wapitikev likes to point out often, this guy's age (Matthew is currently around 44 years old) might not fit into the timeline too well. Jack's age will be 30-ish if the movie ever gets made (silent prayer).

Btw, welcome to the Forum, GraFiT. Smile

I nominate Max Records (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1599441152/nm2504006).

Sure, he's young now, but by the time this movie ever gets made he will probably be just about the right age. He'll probably grow up to be somewhat average-looking, so it should work out just fine.

Or am I being too cynical? :p

Too cynical?

Not to me. Especially when you consider that the word at one time was that the RJ movie would be released in the fall of 2004.

In 15 years he'll be 29...so he'd be GREAT!

Repairman Jack 1: Claws of the Rakoshi in 2025! I'm getting in line for tickets tomorrow.

Axioms Jack seems to live by (inadvertantly or not):

Why he does what he does: "I chose this life. I know what I'm doing. And on any given day, I could stop doing it. Today, however, isn't that day. And tomorrow won't be either." Bruce Wayne, Identity Crisis

On Rasalom: "Water's wet, the sky is blue...and good old Satan Claus, Jimmy...he's out there...and he's just gettin' stronger." Joe Hallenbeck, The Last Boyscout

Quite honestly, playing Jack is not about what he looks like to me. FPW has done such a masterful job in making him appear to be an everyman, that is how I picture him. In my mind's eye I sometimes picture him as a young Kevin Costner; sometimes more like Thomas Jane.

What is more important than what Jack looks like is being able to capture Jack's apparent split personality. When called upon, Jack can be without mercy and eliminate threats with cool professional precision without hesitation. Yet he possesses a subtle wit and style as he goes about making his repairs and has oddly humorous moments of introspection. That ability to shift gears from violent man to nice guy often reminds me of Martin Blank, John Cusack's character in the film Grosse Point Blank. Cusack has that ability to become a man very capable of violence yet talk about baseball or his favorite movie in his next breath.

Too bad John Cusack is also a tad too old to play Jack. He would be very good in the role.

Welcome, Glloydd95. You'll like it here.

Now THAT is an interesting choice I had never considered. It is indeed too bad that he is 44 this year.

I will add, as well, that my current looks- right and has international box office appeal choice, Sam Worthington, has NOT shown much range in his recent roles.

You are bang-on that serious and brooding (scary) is not the only facet that actor-Jack must be able to portray.

I'm new to this but have read all the books. My very first thought for the actor was Mark Wahlberg, hands down the only actor out there with the right look and can give us girls the money shot we want. Jack is such a complex character that no matter who the actor is it will all come down to the story.

Is my poor thread still going:Yawn:Big GrinWink
I was thinking maybe Sam Worthington.

But will any film live up to our "hope"?
