She finds him shallow, self indulgent and vapid.

This attitude tends to prevent her from forming an unbiased opinion on his acting abilities...somewhat.

Axioms Jack seems to live by (inadvertantly or not):

Why he does what he does: "I chose this life. I know what I'm doing. And on any given day, I could stop doing it. Today, however, isn't that day. And tomorrow won't be either." Bruce Wayne, Identity Crisis

On Rasalom: "Water's wet, the sky is blue...and good old Satan Claus, Jimmy...he's out there...and he's just gettin' stronger." Joe Hallenbeck, The Last Boyscout

Now there's a word that doesn't get used often enough... vapid. LOL, I love that word.

I definitely find him self indulgent as well. I really believe that he means well with all the stuff he's been trying to do in New Orleans... but omg, it is the essence of self indulgence - doing what HE wants, not necessarily what would be best for anyone.

Sorry, thread hijack off. Back to Ryan Reynolds!

How many vikings does it take to change a light bulb?

None. The light from the burning monastery is more than sufficient.

May the Norse be with you.

In the Movie Cast threads, many people speculate that Jack would perhaps best be played by an unknown.

Apparently that's not what the producers have in mind if they are looking for box office appeal, of any kind.

Yeah, I have thought off and on that the right unknown could be great for the role - kind of ever since Ed Norton got too old. :p But I can see the side of the producers as well... the whole point of the movie is to make money, so maybe they can't get away with an unknown. You can cast an unknown as Superman and people will still go to see the movie. That might not be the case with RJ, as unfortunate as that is. Sad

I have to say that I agree with the non-unknown choice.

I want the first movie to do gonzo box office...how else will we see a majority of the books made into sequels.

The Subway Saviour scene will be a violent work of cinematic art.

Heh.

A small segue from Reynolds...word is that Chris Nolan is withholding his commitment on Batman Begins 3 until he gets a script that he likes...and he's currently filming Inception.

Wouldn't it be freaking amazing if he helmed Repairman Jack Begins?

Yup. And someone like Chris Nolan would probably make casting an unknown okay as well. Possibly. Maybe.

True-that.

Speaking of Batman Begins 3, what about Simon Pegg as the Riddler?

I think Ryan Reynolds is begining to get a bit too busy in order to be Jack anymore. He's Deadpool and The Green Lantern. The contracts that he signed for both of these probably has him commited to doing two trilogies if each preceeding movie makes enough to warrant a sequel.

In a Batman 3 aside- I'm hoping for Philip Seymour Hoffman as Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot. Not someone with a fanatical attraction to peguins though. Just a mob boss who always dresses in a tux and therefore goes by The Penguin.
