I just saw the DVD, which is a companion piece to WATCHMEN - it has the full animated version of TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER, the comic book-within-a-comic book in WATCHMEN (cut for time reasons from the theatrical release). Pretty nice job, very ghoulish and over-the-top, narrated by Gerard Butler. Apparently, the director's cut of WATCHMEN that will be released on DVD will restore the BLACK FREIGHTER sections, along with more of the subplot with the newsstand guy and the kid. The DVD also has UNDER THE HOOD, a 20/20 or 60 minutes-type episode from 1975 that interviews the first Nite Owl and other members of the Minutemen with documentary footage and interviews with other characters (including a great cameo comment from the Comedian) from the original book (and a commercial for Veidt product and vintage 1975 commercials, as well as a short documentary about the two features, a chapter from the weird "animated" WATCHMEN that was on iTunes (eh!) and a preview of the upcoming Green Lantern animated film.
If they restore the animated and other cut sections, as well as the usual extras (making of features, the My Chemical Romance Music video to "Desolation Row", etc.) the DVD should be giganormous.
