Gamara rocks!

I've always been partial to the old Mummy movies. Anybody who couldn't outrun the Mummy deserved whatever happened to them. :p

I have fond memories of sitting around with my mother watching old Boris Karlov and Bela Legosi and Lon Cheney Jr movies. Once my son gets a little better about movies that go bump in the night I have to start sharing them with him. That and next time the wife is away teaching him about his Japanese heratige (wifes side) with the Godzilla movies (I'm thinking Godzilla vs King Kong first)

How about "THE DEADLY MANTIS", "TARANTULA", "THE BEAST FROM HOLLOW MOUNTAIN", "KONGA" and of course "KING KONG"!

Son of a bitch. I came here to post my love of Gamera and was beaten to the punch by my brother from another mother and sista from another mista. For the record I coined the phrase sista from another mista in early 2001. It's mine.

Anyone remember "IT-THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE" starring Marshall Thompson (makes me think of a Rakosh!)? This film inspired "ALIEN"

"Prince of Darkness" - also John Carpenter, the moster is a bit more atmospheric for a while, but what the hell. And it was the role Alice Cooper was born to play.

"Phantasm" and just for kicks, "Phantasm II" - it's a bad way to replace to a main actor, but the entire premise of Phantasm II in reaction to Phantasm is perfect, and perhaps a page not too far removed from the Repairman Jack books.

The first two Hellraiser movies - I very much see them as monster movies, but beyond those two I wouldn't pay attention to them.

Anything Harry Hausen I suppose... those Sinbad movies and the creatures of myth wandering about.

How about these from American International:

"EARTH vs THE SPIDER", "THE SHE CREATURE", "IT CONQUERED THE WORLD", "DAY THE WORLD ENDED" and Corman's first: "MONSTER FROM THE OCEAN FLOOR".

If you like Gamera, you'd love The Gumshoe, The Witch and The Virtual Corpse-tons of flying turtles in it.
