How could you beat Robert Preston as Centauri, much less Lance Guest and Catherine Mary Stewart as Alex and Maggie?

I suppose the special effects could be improved upon, but not the characters or the story.

This film used to terrify me when I was a little boy. My parents let me watch it becasue they assumed it was more or less the same as Star Wars, but it has a much nastier edge - the captured spy having his brain boiled with a laser, the pulsating half-formed clone under the covers. . . *shudder*!

I accidentally dropped a load of worthless change in the street. I was going to just leave it there but a burly policeman lumbered towards me and said, "You'd better pick that up, son."

I hate coppers.

I can see how that would be a problem.

I was in my late 30's when the movie was released, so it was a different experience for me.
