I was very amused by the P Frank Winslow books and appearances - very clever.

Following the premise to the absurd end, I'd like to see Jack seek out other works by Winslow (outside the Jack Fixx books he is aware of) and maybe discover some earlier works similar to Black Wind and The Keep, which would also tie into his life and add to the creepy factor.

Any short stories tied to Monroe would also be relevant, given all the cross-links in FPW's works.

Anyone else find this possibility amusing? Or maybe I'm just up way too late tonight...

PFW seems to tap into Jack's mind, so it is hard to imagine how he could "dream" of events which took place long before Jack's birth.

But to know more about Monroe, maybe [tiny spoiler Conspiracies ahoy]
to meet another member of the Monroe Cluster...
coooooooooooool!

Now that I'm awake, I do remember Naka mentioning Black Wind being published.

I don't recall if PFW mentions if those are his first books. Unfortunately I had to pack away all my books recently so I can't do that research at the moment.

Maybe PFW or another person has some mental connection to the Otherness and has been writing about Monroe and The Keep.

There are no more coincidences, so this is potentially a way for Jack to learn more.

Now that would also be an excellent idea for a truly creepy way to show how much the Otherness has touched so many.

Hey! could PFW be borne in Monroe? What's his age?

Exactly! And Jack would be the only person who could recognize them as reality, not fiction. (except for maybe Rasalom and Glaeken, who might actually point Jack in the direction of those stories).

One would think he was born during the correct time to be so Otherness influenced. Either that or, PFW has some ODNA.

minor BTS spoiler
about everybody does have oDNA, except Glaecken and maybe The Lady - so maybe a big amount, but without the trigger gene?
I can't imagine PFW being a potential spear candidate...

I cannot see the usefulness of PFW, be it for the Ally or the Otherness: he doesn't threaten Jack, but he doesn't help him either, since he is of no use for predicting what will happen. He only sees the present.

Could he be useful for someone else? Thinking of the Septimus there. They could have somehow engineered PFW, so as to have a look at what the Heir does? (I know, I know, my Seven fixation :p)

Or maybe, this is just FPW having fun, a little like Hitchcock making a cameo appearance in his films Wink

There seems to be a purpose to PFW and his books. Just what it is ....hopefully the next book will give us some more clues for debate.
