That's for sure, he defineatly needs work. I'm surprised you took the cash from the poor guy, he needs all the spare change he can find. Wasn't it getting so bad for the guy that he resorted to doing infomercials???

Actually, I think I'll play Dr. Roma, silly human.

I think Ryan Reynolds would be a pretty good Jack.

And don't laugh, but I think Mena Suvari would be a pretty good Gia.

persephoneslove Wrote:While I do believe Ryan Reynolds can play a dramtic roll [i.e. Smokin' Aces] he's just not average enough to be Jack. Jack is the everyman, not tall or short, no pretty or ugly, he is invisible and I just dont think Reynolds can be that. Though the more I watch television and reread Jack the more I picture Jeffrey Donovan. Watch him in a few clips from the show "Touching Evil" and you can see what I mean. He's average but theres an underlying darkness to him that I think Jack possesses. Now I could just be talking out my rear here cause I know I'm not the only overboard Jack-fanatic, but I think I'd be really disappointed by Reynolds portrayal. Now god love the Bergmeister, but as Jack? I think he should pass.

Welcome, Persephone, you'll like it here.

As the regular readers will remember, I am not a Reynolds hater...I've defended him as Jack (heck I even posted a buff pic of him when Libby didn't know who he was)...but he is 6'2 and a little too much on the handsome side for Jack. I also threw Thomas Jane out for similar reasons (looks) but he's at least the right height at 5' 10 & 3/4".

Your choice of Donovan is a good one. At only only 6' he's more average hight and he's not as handsome as either Reynolds or Jane...and can'tcha just see the O-DNA twinkling in those eyes? But he's a skinny guy...he'd have to add about 20lbs of muscle to look like this (from the neck down, at least).

My only question is: can the guy act? Since I don't watch TV, I've seen only two shows with him in it: Blair Witch 2 (which I've blocked from my memory) and Hitch, which I'm going to have to go back and re-watch now to see how he was.

Good Choice, 'Seph.

Jeffrey Donovan, a.k.a. Vance Munson the scumbag from Hitch. Effective and believable performance, but not exactly a lot of range required however.

I assume he has had the requisite experience required for the role through his TV work?

I also liked Nathan Fillion for Jack but, once again, too pretty and too tall.

I'm trying to find a good Vicky and then I'll post my picks.

After careful consideration (and making the time to finish them) I've made my top two choices for each role in Repairman Jack I: Claws of The Rakoshi. There were many actors considered for Jack but I've rejected some of my favourites (Nathan Fillion, etc.) in favour of actors who better fit the role. The choices are listed in order of preference.

Jack: Thomas Jane or Ryan Reynolds...my previous decision to exclude Thomas Jane for having too much presence or being too handsome has been reversed...he is more average looking than Reynolds and, as I mentioned in my post earlier tonight, is also well under 6', so he gets the nod. Props to FelineStevens for suggesting him, way back on March 31, 2008.

Abe: Robin Williams (in his Ms. Doubtfire fat suit) or Robbie Coltrain (see Let it Ride)

Gia: Charlize Theron or Kate Winslett

Kusum: Sendhil Ramamurthey (from Heroes) or Akshay Kumar (prolific in Bollywood)

Kolabati: Aishwarya Rai (Mira from Last Legion) or Morena Beccarin (Inara from Serenity)

Julio: Danny Trejo (Johnny 23 from Con-air) or, if Danny is too old, Benicio Del Toro

Vicky: Shyann McClure or Amy/Zoe Schlagel (they were the only ones that I could find that were close to 8 years old)

Mrs. Westphalen: Helen Mirren

Jack : Jeffrey Donovan [watch him in some dark moments of "Touching Evil" and oooo, shivers] and yeah he's a bit thinner, but a lil bit of working out and he can snap right into Jack. Besides he does have those cracklin oDNA eyes.
Gia: bleh, still undecided [idk Rachel Weiz?]
Vicky: Raquel Castro [Jersey Girl]
Abe: Eddie Jones [have to think of him with the accent though of course]
Julio: Jacob Vargas or Francis Capra

I'm only listing the most reoccuring characters though cause otherwise I'd ebd up going through all the books, so I'll not be casting Kassar and such.

Julio can only be Luis Guzman.
