Animagess Wrote:Actually, it's just the female version of 'Animage' (an anime/manga magazine). It's a little silly, but I've had it for so long it would just confuse everybody if I changed it.

Nothing wrong with being silly. It's fun!
In this instance however, you just found someone who didn't understand it.

Too many letters? Big Grin

The commands in combat-style shooting competition are:

Shooter understand the course of fire?

Load and make ready!

Shooter ready?! (A friend of mine has a website with that name. . . shooterready.com)

Standby!

(The timer starts with a ) BEEP!

When the shooter has finished the course of fire, the commands are:

Has shooter finished the course of fire?

Unload and show "clear."

Gun is "clear."

Hammer down.

Holster.

Range is clear.

This is when people go forward to pick up brass, tape and reset targets.

Shooters who get the answering machine at my shop always chuckle over the recorded greeting.

The greeting message is:

Shooter understand the course of fire.

Shooter ready.

Stand by.

(Then the answering machine goes ) BEEP! Big Grin

Yes, that is exactly right. The caption is "Have you ever been this tired?"
I also have one of a kitty on its back and a little puppy with a "punk" look on his face.
All VERY cute.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

Reminds me of when Fuzzbutt was a little kitten. She would race around playing with Miss Underfoot, stop to catch her breath, and fall asleep sitting up. Her head would sink lower and lower and she would wake up when her nose bumped the floor.

Cats are so funny.

Yeah, I remember that bit...
