I'm sorry if this has already been discussed but, on imdb.com there is a listing for Midnight Mass(2003). I'm guessing its based on the short story... But has anyone seen it? The reviews are kinda mean as they usually are... I was hoping for a fan's response...

-FPW, are you really Noah Randall?

-BD

"Trust the Fuckhead!" - Spider Jerusalem.
"I'm doin' the Monkey Dance!" - GIR (Invader Zim).

A fan of the film? Fat chance. Big Grin

It does not deviate far from the source material (of the short story) and for the budget they've made a decent effort.

But (you knew that was coming) the acting is atrocious and the finale is poorly executed with continuity problems and general confusion.

Paul has a small cameo and acts more natural than the rest of the cast put together.

If you're desperate to watch it, I have it on R1 DVD and can lend it to you. I'd advise against it though, there is bound to be something better you can do for an hour and a half, like the washing up Smile

The film is a novelty of sorts. There are decent parts to it, like the beginning and Paul's cameo. Father Joe isn't bad either. But, the sound effects are a bit ridiculous.

First it must be said. I've read every FPW book I can get. I've even paid $25.00 for a used paperback so I could have a complete set of the adversary cycle. But I must say.......

That "Midnight Mass" is the worst movie I've ever seen. THE WORST!!! It was so bad I'll have to think long and hard about even buying the book. Sad Sad Sad

The only parts I enjoyed was seeing FPW in the news clip and as a dead body outside the church (I think it was his eyes and forehead sticking out). I was completely disgusted with the movie and was let down to see that the screenplay was in part written by FPW.

Go Vikings!! Cool

Yes, I hate the Green Bay Packers!

Read a book today! Wink

Tony is a special effects make-up man. MIDNIGHT MASS was his first attempt at directing a movie. Given that, I'd say he did a pretty decent job.

FPW was helping out a great guy who was trying something completely new . . . something he had never done before. How many of us have ever had a first attempt at something new turn into a blazing success?

Read the book MIDNIGHT MASS. I loved it, and I'm not a vampire fan. (Jimbow is . . . ask him what he thought of the book.)

I agree. The book, Midnight Mass was great. I tried Anno Dracula by Kim Newman, and didn't get halfway through it. It seemed too pretentious and and soap opera-like to me. So, I don't necessarily like everything with vampires either. But, I thought Midnight Mass was one of FPW's best. (Haven't seen the movie.)

I liked Midnight Mass. Though it isn't one of my favorite vampire novels (that will always be Dracula), I found the return of vampires as evil creatures very refreshing. I recently bought They Thirst and Anno Dracula but haven't read either of them yet.

First attempt or not the movie is bad. I'm sure that Tony is a great guy.

I've noticed the movie "The Keep" isn't looked at too fondly on this site, but I liked that movie enough (in fact I like it quite a bit) that it inspired me to read my very first FPW book and from then on I was hooked. The movie "Midnight Mass" would not have. If a Repairman Jack movie does come out I hope to hell it is better then this movie.

I'll give the book a read.

I agree totally with you on this post. Except for the fact that an RJ movie is already in the works, it is not an "if" at this point. Welcome to another person who actually like the Keep movie.

......even if you are a Vikings fan.
