I saw the first Tomb Raider movie in the cinema when it came out, and thought it was pretty good for what it was. It kept me from falling asleep for a coupla hours at least. I never bothered with the second one.

I thought the the Final Fantasy movie with Steve Buscemi and Alec Baldwin looked absolutley amazing, but was let down in a massive way by not having a coherent story.

Was The Last Starfighter based on a game? That film was ace Cool

I accidentally dropped a load of worthless change in the street. I was going to just leave it there but a burly policeman lumbered towards me and said, "You'd better pick that up, son."

I hate coppers.

Scott Hajek Wrote:Is the writers strike also an excuse for the delay of MGS4? I don't own a PS3, yet, but that game would likely be Sony's salvation.

I don't have much faith in an MGS movie adaptation. No videogame has made the translation very well to movies. And, MGS is too convoluted a story to be adapted well.

I tried to use the writers' strike as an excuse to get an extension on an appellate brief due in the Court of Appeals. Didn't work. Seems only writers in Hollywood can strike. We "legal" writers have to get briefs out over Christmas.

I loved The Last Starfighter!

As far as film adaptations of a video game, how about Bloodrayne? Awful movie, but it felt more like a video game than most others do. She walks up to a random person in the village, who spouts off little tidbits that send her on a quest. You practically expected the words "press A to talk to villager...press B to buy supplies" to pop up on the screen. My eldest calls the film "Bloodsquirt" because of all the videogamesque kills.

And I thought you'd get briefs for Christmas....

I enjoyed this one as well...I actually one it too. I think it becomes mrowe coherent with the second or third viewing which, just like some books, is ok with me.

I think one of the reasons Final Fantasy was better then most of the other video games to movies listed here is because it was animated; kind of hard to get bad actors, bad acting, bad sets, and a bad script to all work together to make an awful movie.

I think that was not based on a game. But I really like The Last Starfighter!

Yeah the final fantasy movie was....kinda ok... they did a much better job with the "FF7 Advent Children" i think...but that isn't necessarily based on the game, merely what happens after the fact.... great animation though... and the plot... i liked as well...

Kojima has been tweeting about a "Confidential Project" recently.

Does this have anything to do with his "Repairman Jack" game? Is one even a possibility still?
