I predict it to win an Oscar for best special effects. Maybe sound too.

They passed an old woman who was just opening the door of a brown Cadillac. An old man was already sitting in the passenger seat. The car had a personalized plate with the letters “J-U-S-P-R-A-Y”.
“That stuff work?” Israel said to her.
“‘Scuse me?” the little old woman said, clutching her keys.
“The spray. Does it keep them away?”
“Keep who away?” She looked confused.
“I gotcha.” Israel gave her a conspiratorial wink.

I saw TRANSFORMERS today and was underwhelmed. It certainly had non-stop action, but too much of it. They could cut 30 minutes and no one would miss it.

Not having grown up with Transformer toys, I found the whole idea of morphing machines to be delightful and something different.

Edit, edit, edit. Every director needs to learn that skill early.

And yes, Michael Bay loves his explosions.

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.
You may quote me.

I like explosions, too. Even better, I thought the first half of the movie had lots of humor and fun in it.

Today I saw Transformers, and I enjoyed it! High quality CGI, great sound effect, skillful edit & cinematography.....well, they were excellent except for cheap story and idiot people in NSA. They guessed those robots were made in North Korea or China! I can't believe it! North Korea?! Damned idiots! He he he... *coughs* Sorry, I couldn't resist. :p

Anyway, it was a fun movie. Great action scenes, a little funny humor. What was so funny was "Japanese giant toys assaulted America." Big Grin

And, I thought Transformers shouldn't speak the words. I felt they are cool, until they speak. I felt it corny.

"We've learned Earth's language through the World Wide Web."
"I am... MEGATRON!"

Ironhide. Despite a bloodthirstiness to his attitude, is still my favorite autobot

LOVED the movie. Wished it had more Starscream in it.

It's an 88 magnum. It shoots through schools.

Awful.

The first hour was okay, but once the robots turn up it was a mess.

I can normally put up with the Michael Bay naffness in his films, but coupled with the naffness of the last hour and a half it was too much. I couldn't wait for it to end, every slow mo felt like my life draining away.

Shia LeBouf came across well and Megan Fox was nice to look at though. Smile

Dave, I'm sorry you're obviously crazy.

Well, maybe not so crazy after all, judging by your comments re: Ms. Fox. Wink

I finally caught Transformers last weekend. Wow! My family and I loved it. I was expecting it to be entertaining, but I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. Yes, a couple of scenes went on too long (the end and the scene with the Autobots in Sam's yard), but those are small quibbles.

The CGI was excellent 95% of the time. Oddly enough, the giant robots were much more effective and realistic than the little appliance-bots. The CGI for those wasn't entirely convincing in some scenes, for some reason.

I'd like to see it again before it leaves theaters. The DVD comes out in a month....

I can post!! Big Grin

Big cheer for me!!!! Cool

I accidentally dropped a load of worthless change in the street. I was going to just leave it there but a burly policeman lumbered towards me and said, "You'd better pick that up, son."

I hate coppers.
