Has anyone else heard that Howard Stern has been telling his fans to vote for the worst singer on "American Idol?"

If that's true, it seems to be working. Sanjaya, THE worst singer in the bunch, has been repeatedly voted in.

Is Howard Stern flexing his powerful media muscle? Can he tip the scales on "Idol?" Is America bored with "Idol?" Will they vote in the worst singer just because they can?

I don't know if it's just because of Howard, but it's totally crazy that ANYONE is voting for Sanjaya. He is soooo bad. I almost feel sorry for him, except that he seems to be getting bolder all the time about his suckitude.

He is most certainly cockier. I wonder how he's faring with the other contenders. They all see him as a threat, I bet, an unworthy competitor.

I've never really watched it but I hate hearing about it all the time. Coverage of the show saturates every media outlet. It would be great if Stern sandbagged it. Smile

I'm with you. I've never watched this show and don't understand the appeal, but it creeps into everything, including the first minute of House or some other show I do watch.

If Howard Stern can mess with the results, that's cool with me -- and more power to him. Besides, it is time he quit messing with that Anna Nicole stuff, anyway -- since she's dead and all.

Big Grin heh heh heh.

Sounds like a plot to the Hugh Grant/Mandy Moore film American Dreamz.

That was a bit pants too.

It's not just Howard Stern. I think it's a combination of votefortheworst.com, him and people who are legitimately voting for him because they like him.

They passed an old woman who was just opening the door of a brown Cadillac. An old man was already sitting in the passenger seat. The car had a personalized plate with the letters “J-U-S-P-R-A-Y”.
“That stuff work?” Israel said to her.
“‘Scuse me?” the little old woman said, clutching her keys.
“The spray. Does it keep them away?”
“Keep who away?” She looked confused.
“I gotcha.” Israel gave her a conspiratorial wink.

I think this will be a very whacky year because of Sanjaya. He'll go far and displace deserving contestants. It could be that he'll make the finals. Wouldn't it be hilarious if the next American Idol turned out to be the worst singer.
