Saw this yesterday and it blew me away. A harrowing experience. Choked me up at least half a dozen times in the third act -- something that simply doesn't happen with me -- and left me physically and emotionally drained. There's a 7-minute-long running/action take toward the end that has to be seen to be believed.

Cindy and I saw Children of Men yesterday as well. Cindy was fighting back tears from the scene where the pregnant girl reveals her secret. She said that this small package of hope against so much death and despair had her teary-eyed throughout.

I didn't lose it until the "uprising" scene near the end of the movie. Fans of the old TV series "Combat" may recall a similar scene, or perhaps more parallel than similar.

Comparisons to "Bladerunner" are apt if you're familiar with London just as those unfamiliar with Los Angeles may not have gotten the full impact of a futuristic L.A. I find a comparison with "Minority Report" closer to the mark, but this movie is so good, it is worthy of debate and comparison with other great futuristic movies ("Soylent Green" comes to mind).

AC

P.S. Not that "Minority Report" was so great, but you know what I mean.

We're going to see this one this coming week-end. Looks to me as if I'll need my tissues....but that's okay...a good cry clears the head.

P.S. How are you doing? Resting up I hope.
Be well!

There is some good dark humor in it as well. The action scequences are incredible. You don't for one minute don't believe what is happening. It is a powerful piece of cinema.

Minor spoiler.......

And what about the sequence in the house at the end? When the baby cried? The effect it had?

I am so glad to hear this is as good as it looks. I have been wanting to see it for some time and this Friday my wife and I are going to have our first date night in some time to go see it. Can't wait now.

I'm sure you have an experienced, mature, and reliable babysitter lined up. I only wish my wife and I were available and not precluded from volunteering by geography. Whatever happened to those pictures?

She is a little darling! What bright eyes, what a lovely smile!

She will break hearts when she gets older! Once she starts dating, I suggest that you station yourself on the porch, conspicuously cleaning your shotgun when her date shows up! Big Grin

What a proud papa you must be!
