Saw Night at the Museum yesterday, and one of the previews was Rise of the Silver Surfer. Holy gods!

That's all I can say right now, and I never saw the first one. I am too big a fan of the FF4 to have spent time wasting it on the first one. But this one? Don't know, but the trailer is up there with Miller's "300."

I really liked The Fantastic Four movie myself and I can't wait for Rise of the Silver Surfer. What did you think of Night at the Museum, btw?

How many vikings does it take to change a light bulb?

None. The light from the burning monastery is more than sufficient.

May the Norse be with you.

MAY BE SPOILERS

NOT SURE WHAT IS IN MOVIE

Ultimately a good guy

http://www.marvel.com/universe/Silver_Surfer

In a nutshell he is an alien. Galactus (a giant planet eating alien) arrives on his planet threatening to destroy it. Norrin Radd offers his own life in exchange for his planet. Galactus agrees & turns him into the silver surfer. A very powerful cosmic being who roams the cosmos looking for planets for Galactus to lunch on

Eventually he rebels against Galactus to help save the earth, initially fighting against the FF ultimately he teams up with them to help repel Galactus

I just caught the trailer today. Looks great and I hope the movie lives up to it. BTW, Why did you not see the first FF?

I kinda get the vibe from all the hoopla that Galactus probably
won't come onto the stage, as it were, until the very few final
minutes of this sequel movie, thus kicking off the plot for a
third and final film...which makes me wonder why they are
not filming FF4-II and FF4-III back to back, which from all
indications they are not...oh well, just rampant speculation
on my part. I know as little as most folks about what is going
on with these films. Read a lot of marvel comic books in the
1970's (I had a friend who had a subscription to about one
dozen different comics so I mooched onto a lot of free reading).

Will be interesting to see if the movie tries, in any way, to
tap into all of the cosmological implications of "The Power Cosmic"
which held so much sway in the comic book...

Not to mention the metaphysical implications of Galactus's very existance. He isn't really a bad guy, either, and sometimes actually comes across as quite likable. He's simply trapped into fulfilling a particular function in the cycle of things.

If Big G doesn't show up until the end of the movie, I guess there's not much hope for seeing the Watcher this time around.

Ah, the Watcher! My best recollection of him was an FF book in the...late 70s? We had a fine comics store in Brockport, and the owner and I buddied up quick. Let's see...far as I recall, Dr. Doom contrived a trap for the FF. They're trapped in a room that Doom is evacuating. Reed is trying to think of something. There's not enough air left for the Torch to flame-on. Sue Storm is almost unconscious, but still trying to use her force-field to gather whatever air is left into a bubble around the heroes. And Ben Grimm, my man, is using the last of his strength to try to punch through the floor to find air. The Watcher sees all this. He takes a step forward to use his power to rescue the only Terrans he's ever been able to call "friends." And steps back. He cannot violate his oath...

And I can't remember what happened next!Rolleyes
