I see that Peter Boyle has left us, may his rest be Super-Duper.

Awww, no. I'll miss him. I always enjoyed his performances, particularly in "Young Frankenstein," and, of course, the TV series "Everybody Loves Raymond."

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.
You may quote me.

I liked him a lot in The Dream Team as well. And Frank on Raymond will be a classic.

R.I.P. Mr Boyle.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

Peter Boyle truly had a special ability to make people laugh. He will be sorely missed.

I can't believe he died. I'm still watching "Everybody Loves Raymond". I don't know which season though. But I'm enjoying it everyday.

The first time I remember Peter Boyle was when he was lead in a movie called "Joe" (for obvious reasons). He played a hippie-hating, blue-collar, repressed sociopath (and he did it really, really well). There was a sequel (Joe II) I found out recently, but it never got the run of the original.

Peter was also part of a traveling company that included Jane Fomda, Donald Sutherland, et. al. called F.T.A.* (which stood for F_ck the Army, let this one pass, Bluesman Wink ).

Seemingly, he came to the acting profession late in life, but he really made up for lost time. He is missed!

Then out spoke brave Horatius, the Captain of the Gate: "To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late; And how can man die better than facing fearful odds, For the ashes of his fathers, and the temples of his Gods,"
"Well, John Henry said to the Cap'n, "A man ain't nuthin' but a man. But, before I let that steam drill beat me, gonna die with my hammer in my hand, Lawd, Lawd, gonna die with my hammer in my hand."

This made me sad. Sad

How many vikings does it take to change a light bulb?

None. The light from the burning monastery is more than sufficient.

May the Norse be with you.

I first saw him in "Outland" with Sean Connery.

He had range.

Hey Joe, you didn't happen to name youself after that character, did you? You both seem to share several qualities.Big Grin I wonder if it's available. Sounds like a good flick.

I WAS a hippie (or, at least a hippie-wannabe. Back then, conservatives didn't get laid much Wink )!

Theme from "Joe"

"Hey, Joe!
Why'd we ever go to war, before?
Hey, Joe!"
"Why'd we ever go to war, before?
What the Hell for?"

"I got to work on Thursday,
Got to make me some overtime . . ."
