Mitch Robbins: Hi Curly. Killed anyone today?
Curly: The day ain't over yet...
(Quote From City Slickers)

Shane: So you're Jack Wilson.
Jack Wilson: What's that mean to you, Shane?
Shane: I've heard about you.
Jack Wilson: What have you heard, Shane?
Shane: I've heard that you're a low-down Yankee liar.
Jack Wilson: Prove it.
(Quote From Shane)

Just now I got sad sad news.

Jack Palance, the legendary character actor who received Oscar nominations for his villainous roles in Sudden Fear and Shane, and won an Oscar for his comedy role in City Slickers, died Friday of natural causes in California; he was 87. Read more

I haven't seen a lot of his movies. Shane, City Slickers, Cops and Robbersons,
Tango & Cash, Young Guns, and....City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold.

I liked his bad guy in "Shane", and old cowboy in "City Slickers". Can you guess what was sad thing to me? His last movie which I saw in a theatre was "City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold". Oh....that was terrible sequel. Sad

RIP, Mr.Palance...

Kenji, Jack Palance was always one of my favorite actors. I was very glad when he made a comeback in City Slickers. It seems like all the real actors and actresses are gone.

Yeah, I still remember he got Oscar and he did push-ups on stage. I thought "Holy cow! He is cool!" If you hadn't seen his brightest moment, check this.

Robert Redford, Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, Robert DeNiro, Paul Newman, Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, and our Clint Eastwood....they're still alive. Wink

This really saddens me, too. I'm only a very recent fan of his (seeing Panic in the Streets and Shane within a couple of weeks of each other brought me onto the band wagon, even though I'm sure I've seen him elsewhere, before), and even I'm very upset about this. He was a damn fine actor, and really made some memorable characters (namely villains).

RIP, Mr. Palance.

You're right -- there's Sean Connery too. But we don't have Bogart, Bette Davis, Gene Tierney, Marlon Brando, Kirk Douglas, Clark Gable, John Wayne, Maureen O'Sullivan, Rex Harrison, Orson Wells. I miss them all.

The actors and actresses I've known have been self-absorbed, pretentious, and very insecure people. Jack Palance never struck me that way. Seemed to me a real hombre. Like to think of him at the Pearly Gates, muscling St. Peter out of his way, knocking on Heaven's door and shouting, "Yo, God--you decent?"Wink
