Hey...I um...drink...um PBR (Pabst).

Henry's still tastes fine. I just don't like little guys being stomped on by big guys.

A quick thanks to FPW, after reading about Ybor Gold in Gateways, I searched for a way to get it in Texas. Finally managed, and damn, I have a very expensive new addiction.

BMC (bud, miiler, coors) is NOT beer and not suitable for human consumption!

Since we're on the beer topic. I remember reading once that when Groucho MArx was working for the Pabst Blue Ribbon radio show, old man Pabst took him out to a Milwauke bar to celebrate the first show. The waitress asked them what they would be drinking and old man Pabst proudly ordered a PBR. Groucho...had a Miller High Life. The show was cancelled after 6 episodes.

I've enjoyed it for awhile now, my brother turned me onto it a few years ago, but until recently Franziskaner Hefe-Wiessbier was a rare treat as a six-pack cost $9. For the past month, my beer store has been promoting the new twelve-pack for the wonderfully low price of $9.99. Damn good drinking.

If you like that, you'd really like the Franziskaner.

In his book "Complicity" - Iain Banks has the following line refering to Bud

"I make a point of never drinking a beer that tasted like p1$$, even when it was still brewed in America"

- or words to that effect - I can't find my copy of the novel for the exact quote

Becks - finest beer in the world
Staropramen - when available

That's Why We Drink It Here!

German monks sent samples of their beer to the Pope back in the 1500s. Used to wine, the Pope complimented the monks on their piety for the penance of drinking such a bitter brew!

The German Beer Purity Law of 1508 states that all beer must be composed of water, hops, yeast, and malt and nothing else. Many American micro-brews conform with those requirements.

Here in Northern Virginia, we have a brewery called Old Dominion. Under contract they brew an ale and pils called "Tupper's Hop Pocket" that I particularly favor.

I also like anything by Sierra Nevada (Chico, California), the Pale Ale, Porter, and Stout. I discovered it when visiting Salt Lake City, which reminded me of Manhattan, but much, much cleaner.

Prosit!
