It was funny in the action movie 'Fled' when a woman looked through the peephole in her apartment door and this guy shot her through the peephole she did a backwards somersault and her head was completely intact.

Remember that '60s series "The Love Boat"? Every week that was the story line. I think the screen writers just wrote one script and changed the names each week.

Ack! You had to remind me! I spent waaaaay to many Saturday nights babysitting when there was nothing else on tv to watch. (BTW kids, this was before 24 hour cable tv. There was literally nothing to watch after 2:00 a.m.!)

Bad enough Love Boat reused the story line week after week, but there were at least three couples per show reliving that same storyline. Followed by the weekly "be careful what you wish for" storylines of Fantasy Island.

(Edit - Yikes! Wait a minute! I just made myself even older than I really am...Love Boat and Fantasy Island were actually late 70's/early 80's shows!)

Enter Hollyweird . . . exit any semblance of reality.

When I was a kid, the Lone Ranger would shoot a gun from the villain's hand, the gun would still be useable, and the villain's hand would only sting.

Now they go to the other extreme. Rolleyes

Leaps from high cliffs, dives from low shores or long plummets from waterfalls into rivers always find significantly deep spots in the water. They are always able to swim away unscathed. No one every drops into the water and breaks a leg, a neck or gets stuck waist deep in sediment and muck never to be seen again.

Did I miss it or has no one mentioned cars that explode into huge balls of flame at the slightest fender-bender?

Yeah, like the Pinto in the movie TOP SECRET !!!

Cars that explode AT ALL for that matter.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

The one exception being Gert Frobe (playing Colonel Manfred von Holstein) in THOSE MAGNIFICANT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES. Big Grin

You're right, no one else mentioned it.

They also explode when a bullet hits the gas tank, even though a copper jacketed bullet causes no sparks when it punches through thin sheet metal, and even though flamable, gasoline in a tank will cool a hot bullet too quickly for it to cause a fire.

What about flesh bashing against sheet metal, and causing sparks? Like the T. Rex did when it head-butted the bus in Jurassic Park II . . . THE LOST WORLD. (When the Rhino did the same thing in HATARI, there were no sparks.) Wink

Also, in the third LETHAL WEAPON movie (I think) where the Semi-Trailer tanker blows up, did you notice how the wheels on the tandem axle folded in?

Very true!

Another thing . . .

Have you noticed in Early American type movies -- like The Last of the Mohicans, Mel Gibsons The Patriot, and others -- how the Colonists/Americans have "American" accents . . . and not English accents?
