The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

Truely funny Jimbow, that was how things were. More gullible and gentler times.

Amazing how times and sensibilities change.

I'm not planning to go see the new Superman movie. I'm not ready for any young punk to take Chris Reeve's place. Sad

Good ol' Pre-Crisis Superman. Aside from being absurdly powerful (almost God-like), he could really be a jerk, too. Definitely a lot different from today's Superman. Big Grin

Anyway, that really was funny. Big Grin

Only on the covers! In the actual stories he was either totally devoid of the jerkiness depicted on the cover, or he turned out to have some kind of noble reason for acting like a jerk, which was all explained in the end.

Let's face it: those covers were designed as a ploy to make 12-year-old kids gasp and plunk down $.10 or $.12 at a time when that was real money. Anyone older than that knew the covers were blatantly misleading, and this was long before the days when the comic market shifted to the college crowd and collectors.

I saw the new movie last night. I liked it. I liked the casting with the exception of Kevin Spacey as Lex. He was ok, but would not have been my first choice. It was great seeing Noel Neal and Jack Larson, the "original" Lois and Jimmy.
