I know what you mean. I'm sure we've all done it at one time or another.

Thing is, you recognized that it was wrong, but couldn't think of the correct spelling at the time. (Shows that you were thinking.) Probably a case of thinking of the word "phenomenon."

Memory-bank, perhaps. Sometimes I think having a good memory is not such a good thing.

Life experience doesn't count for much. Everyone's life experience is different. To me, what counts most is what you learn from it.

Not many indeed. Pity you couldn't have seen it as a tourist. It's what? fifty or so miles south of Baghdad?

If it were possible, I'd love to see Damascus. Perhaps the oldest continuously populated city in the world.
