Oh, yeah we are! Big Grin

You've probably discussed this in early threads, but why do you think the Lady leaves behind those tin cans, tree branches and symbols? Are they used in the healing process, or just protection wards? Does the tin can have some kind of meaning, or is it just to hold the branch and the symbols? Even poor little Emma had these things things (although it didn't help *sigh*).

Interesting question!

At first I thought they had to do with healing, since everybody who had them was miraculously healing -- until Emma. Poor baby! Now I don't know what to think.

Maybe they are for protection, like garlic cloves to ward off a vampire. Maybe they don't cause any harm to an enemy, but just serve as a warning that the person is protected by the Lady.

Or maybe Jack was more right than he knew when he told the doctor they were "religious objects"?

But maybe these items ARE important for healing. The items are "of the earth". They could be symbols of power and protection. Or conduits for channeling?

Channeling........... coming from where? What's channeling the power through these every day items? Could it be from Earth itself? Maybe that's why the ladies are not much of a focus in "Nightworld, the Earth had hundreds of holes punched in it and was too busy trying to heal itself and had nothing left for the cosmic battle.

Or maybe the pillars serve the purpose of preventing Earth from defending itself? Like a force field to prevent counter-attack while allowing the Otherness in.

Or - along this same line - maybe the Earth already has a protective force field, embodied by the ladies with dogs, and the pillars are intended to break that force field?

This is so fun! Smile

That could be. Some of the "ladies" have holes in them. As if something, like a pillar was pushed thru them. Hmmmmmmmmm could be!

This was basically my take as well.

A small thing that I really liked in Harbingers was when Jack told the Ally not to "pull a Monkeys Paw". I remember reading that story when I was little and it really creeped me out. It's one of the few stories that I remember from my early school years that I can still remember vividly.

My question Du Jour - Do you think that Jack will ever cross paths will Cal and Diana again? My guess is that they will both be gone by Nightworld, but it would be kind of fun to see a plot line with them again. I liked Cal. And felt sorry for Diana.

Yeah, the "Monkey's Paw" reference was cool. And so clever of Jack to think of it, because otherwise..yikes.

I think we'll see Cal and Diana again, at least once more. We don't know who was in the vehicle chasing Jack over the ice, and I'm betting that Cal stayed behind to protect Diana.

Far out.
