I saw this Saturday and the sequel was much better than the first. Whereas the first lagged in many areas this one started off with action from the very start. It takes place hours after the events of the first with Selene and Michael hightailing it to a safehouse. Kraven goes back to the mansion with some men intent on destroying Marcus while he sleeps, but as the previews probably show, Marcus is already awake.

Len Wiseman has learned a great deal about pacing since the first film, but the sexuality of the film is still awkward like it was in the first (like when Selene kissed Michael), but thankfully short and we head back into butt-kicking. There's a huge chunk of backstory that tells EVERYTHING about these vampires and you find out what the exact link is between vamps and lycans.

Pretty much if you liked the first one, you'll like this one even more. I don't think I should say anything more.

I heard from a friend that it was pretty bad compared to the original. Interesting...

Well, my complaint with the original was it was too slow and the vampires hardly did anything 'supernatural'. This was paced a lot better. Maybe it might explain too much for you and take away the mystery.

I loved it! I thought it was way better than the first. It made more sense too. The effects were cool. I thought Marcus was a great evil vampire. Guess that guy likes to play vampires. If you remember, he played the vampire Priest, in Blade II.

But he was the Invisible Man in 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen'.

I really don't care if it's bad or good. Kate Beckinsale in tight leather clothes...again!!!! That's a good enough plot for a sequel, IMHO...and H doesn't stand for humble. Big Grin

Maybe I needed to see part one to appreciate part two.
Maybe the audience I saw it with weren't hip to it all.
Maybe the popcorn had rancid butter.
Maybe the root beer was flat.
Or maybe it was just a bad movie.

I can't believe a "monster" movie would concentrate so much on its pseudo mythos instead of punching up the storyline. Monsters too talky. Vampire with gun??

Someone owes me a refund.

P.S. Okay, okay. In all fairness, I'll rent part one and see if that helps.

My thoughts exactly from the first one, never have vampires been so wimpy except for Love at First Bite. Not in any hurry to see the second one.

I wouldn't count on it.
