I'm sticking with my suggestion on Gerard Butler...I know he has a heavy accent (ie: Tomb Raider movie) but I recently watched a movie about the 1950 US Soccer team that beat England in the World Cup and he was in that also. He played an Italian heritage goalkeeper from St. Louis and there was no sign of an accent.

Ya know all of a sudden some thoughts on this topic came to me --

We agree he has to be fairly young --
Decent looking
In decent shape and capable of action
and generally a nice guy...

those are the minimal qualifications -- when I look at some of the names posted and realize what the cost of getting some of those actors are I say no way it just won't happen -- I mean I don't have any real inside idea of the way holywood works but I cannot invision this as a "mega budget film" ok its that simple -- so lets think of realistic budget issues...
I know we dont need super duper special effects but we want a good director etc..

so for jack -- this guy will be totallly unknow to most of you but -- did anyone watch that new kung fu series ? Still had David Carradine as Cane but someone like "Chris Potter" who played his son might be ideal --

The guy could fight -- was an all around nice guy in the show etc etc ..

Quick bio and pic is at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0693243/

-- Problem is would the movie would need a big name to succeed??

Just a new way to look at who might be a good star --

Hell of it weren't for the accent I could/would say go for Sean Bean (lots of good action flicks for him -- Incl Lord of the rings -- and The Bernard Cornwell adapation of the Richard Sharpe series)

Don't get me wrong, I love Sean Bean and think he's a top notch actor. But I think he's too old (and too attractive, but that could just be me Wink ).

How many vikings does it take to change a light bulb?

None. The light from the burning monastery is more than sufficient.

May the Norse be with you.

I think that Eric Banna, the guy from Black Hawk Down and Hulk would be a good Jack....average height...weight,hair and eye color and well versed in action...movies. I think that if he is chose for any role involving Jack...it would be great.

He'd be my #1 choice too. Watch Chopper for a great Bana performance.

Ossicle Wrote:Heya,

Sorry if this has been done before, I'm pretty new here. But does anyone have any favorite well-known actors whom they think would be a great Jack?

My ideal would be for him to be like he's described -- at best blandly handsome, maybe even just ordinary-looking. And dressing only in boring clothes that don't stand out. And there'd be maybe one scene in the movie where he changes his shirt or something and, as he does, you see that he's got like 10% body fat and is extremely mucular (in a lean kind of way) -- and probably that he has a fair amount of scars. Then it's on with the ordinary shirt and the baseball cap, and you'd never guess that's how he is. I think that would be a really cool moment, but given that the studio would only want a pretty-boy I guess that at least the physiognomy part would be asking too much.

Not sure I can think of anyone.
