This is a must see only if you're a big fan of the George Romero zombie series. While 'Land' has its moments, for instance the zombies coming out of the river and entering the city, it has huge drawbacks, like no one can here a slow, shuffling zombie until after it's on top of them and either biting them or about to. I don't want to give away the whole thing, but I thought the concept of the zombies becoming smarter was pretty cool, but I didn't really like how Romero handled it. I'd give it 2 out of 4 corpses.

I dug the film for the most part. The majority of it was just what Romero had envisioned for Day of the Dead until his budget ran out and he had to do rewrites. It was definetly better than Day, though not by much, but fell short of Night/ Dawn status for sure. I especially dug John Leguizamo as the somewhat sympathetic, badass antagonist. A good role for him. And Asia Argento was hot and as spunky as always(LOVE that girl). And the gore was awesome, almost as if the MPAA had just given up trying to trim it all down halfway through its screening.

Not flawless, but definetly better than most zombie dreck put out these days.

Today I saw it in theater.

Basically, "zombie movie" frighten the people. When I first saw "Night of the Living Dead", I felt really scary it. After that, I saw "Dawn of the Living Dead", "Day of the Dead", "Dawn of the Dead", "Return of the Living Dead", "28 days later", "Resident Evil".....See? I saw a lot of zombie movies. Too many. So, "Land of the Dead" was not scary anymore.

But! but, but, but......I don't say "Land of the Dead" was lousy. Actually, I enjoyed it. As Gerald said, "Zombies becoming smarter" was very unique concept. Also, actors and actress were all good. Simon Baker, Dennis Hopper(!), Asia Argento, John Leguizamo....Especially, when I saw Simon Baker, I thought "He is good for Repairman Jack as much as Cole Hauser".

My favorite scene: Zombies are watching fireworks! LOL

BTW, before the movie, I watched Sin City's trailer. Looks great! At last we(Japanese) can see it in November. Yay! Cool
