He wouldn't need a new TV since the U.S. and Japan both use NTSC. It's just those stupid region codes he has to get around.

Kenji, do you have access to the iTunes Music Store? I don't know about Japan, but here in the U.S. you can buy the entire Firefly series and download it right to your computer for $25.99.

I first saw the movie without having seen a single episode of Firefly, and I thought it held together really well without that background. I got to like and care about the characters pretty quickly (typical Joss Whedon). And that opening sequence! I was hooked. What a fun, clever movie.

I've since bought the DVD set of Firefly, and I really enjoyed that, too. It does add depth to the movie, certainly. It clarified certain things and made me realize where certain plot points were going and how we'd arrived at the movie.

You might also want to track down the short series of comics (I think now availailable as a graphic novel). It explains why the guys with blue hands aren't in the movie.

Nope. I don't have iTunes. Besides, even if I downloaded Firefly to PC, I can't understand it without subtitles. Someday I'll get Japanese edition....maybe next year.Rolleyes

But thanks for advice, Blake! Wink

Linux, PC, Mac... they all have hacks to make the DVD-ROM in the computer region free. It usually requires a Firmware update though.
