I haven't seen the movie Slaughterhouse Five, but the book jumped around a lot, which could cause for some serious confusion in a movie. Initially, I read it in a college class on sci fi lit. The prof. really liked the book and squeezed it in because the changes in time and setting fit in the "time travel" aspect of sci fi. A stretch, if you ask me Smile , but still a worthwhile read.

I totally agree about the Shawshank Redemption. Mediocre book, great movie Big Grin ! Most of the Grisham books make decent movies, although I haven't read any lately.

Gone With the Wind

Also, I agree that the Anne of Green Gables movies or TV adaptations were excellent if we're talking about the Megan Follows versions. I'd have to admit I never read the Anne books though.

With Grisham, I've seen four movies based on his books, all good, especiallly Runaway Jury. I had not read any of his books, though. I'm reading The Last Juror now.

I really enjoyed the Runaway Jury movie, but the book was a little different. In the book it was a tobacco case instead of gun control case. The point of the movie remained the same, and most of the tension and stuff was retained. I enjoyed both.

Guess I like the old flicks, but I really enjoyed Lord of the Flies. Book was all that much better, but the movies were well made. I know of two that were made. One in black and white, which is great. Another newer one in color, I really enjoyed also. Something about that story line is just addicting.

I think Shawshank Redemption is not mediocre book,IMHO. Book is good, and movie is great. Wink

Speaking of Grisham, I haven't read any lately, too. :p Once, I read only "The Farm".

"The Farm", "A time to kill" and "Runaway Jury" was good movies. "Pelican brief " and "The Chamber" was bad movies.
