Yeah he did.

Get this. When I was at Ft Polk the unit my wife worked with was doing some planning for a family event. Ft Polk has this little fishing pond on it for kids, so she suggested a fishing tournament named "Little Ahab" something or other. And two people were like "You can't use that. That's racist." And she was like "Umm, what?" And this guy was like "It sounds too much like Arab." She was like "Its a character from Moby Dick" and both of these half-wits looked at her with a blank expression...they had NO IDEA what Moby Dick is. Unbelivable how dumb people have gotten nowadays.

Moby Dick was a great book and I liked the movie too. Orson Wells had a small part but he was cool as hell in it

The movie with Peck is awesome, but the one with Picard is great as well. Just couldn't get it on Netflix before I left, not sure if its on DVD or not. I saw it back on VHS.

The book is good. I read it years ago and just remember reading almost the whole book and it isn't until like the last 100 pages or less that the White Whale finally appears.

Its already gotten mixed reviews and alot of people are upset with what JJ did. I'll wait and reserve judgement till I see it, but since Cumberbatch is the villain it should be good just based on that.

I try not to judge a movie by the reviews if it's something I'm interested in. From what I understand....alot of those thumbs downing this movie are those that don't think the re-boot should futz with TOS canon.
It looks good to me....I'll go see it.

Cumberbatch is the Necromancer and the voice of Smaug so he is pretty cool

Alot of the reviews are from people that already saw it at the Sydney and L.A. premieres.

And why shouldn't it remain somewhat true to canon? It is Star Trek afterall. Sure some things are open for interpretation but some things should remain the same. The timeline change only occurs once George Kirk destroys the Narada.

Either way, like I said, its saving grace is Cumberbatch and he is really the main reason I am planning my R&R for when it will be showing in Qatar. If it was any other actor I would wait for DVD and this is coming from me, a huge Star Trek fan.

Hope you feel the same way when JJ destroys Star Wars canon as well.

JJ is a douche. he was a a douche when I met him and he's still an arrogant douche.
