For my money, it is the best horror novel ever written although it is part of something bigger and I think Paul's most underrated book period.

I found REPRISAL =truly= disturbing, Scott. But for my money, THE FIFTH HARMONIC is Paul's most underrated work.

I feel like I came to the dance five minutes before the musicians started packing up their gear.

I finished reading Reprisal about 30 minutes ago and it is the most disturbing book I have ever read. Were I not such a RJ junkie, if this had been the first book I read in the SHOTW, I wouldn't have picked up another. I was replaying the story of Danny over and over in my head yesterday and it's still bothering me. I have mixed emotions about the book (love it/hate it) because the characters seem so real and the story seems believable enough to have actually happened. I'm surprised I didn't have nightmares over this one.

On the other hand, if Reprisal was not brilliantly written, I would have deleted it from my kindle in a heartbeat. Once again, Mr. Wilson, I am left in awe of your storytelling ability and being able to pull me in so completely that I don't want to stop reading until it's over.

Now on to The Dark at the End...

Agreed. I think that book and everything in it speaks more to the absolute evil of R than any of the other Adversary Cycle or RJ books. Really dark stuff that will stick with me for a very long time. But stuff that fit very well in establishing just what R was/is.
