Hi, I'm in the middle of reading the Repairman Jack series, currently on Crisscross, and I'm starting to wonder is I should take a break from Jack and read the Adversary Cycle.
Should I stop now and go read the adversary books? Or should I finish all the jack books and go back later? And if I should stop and go read those, should I stop immediately? Or is there a certain book I should stop at?
Sorry if this has been asked and answered elsewhere. A friend told me the Adversary Cycles and Dark At The End's stories merge, and I just want to make sure I don't miss out on anything.

There used to be a diagram of how many of the books relate to each other, but I can't seem to locate it in this new format. Maybe someone else has seen it recently? The site had a big overhaul over the summer, which turned out great as you can see, but things got reorganized.
There is a lot that can be said about reading order, but i'll leave that for further discussion. And neither series includes Black Wind, which also ties into the Jack books, read before By the Sword. Many here consider that to be FPWs greatest work.

I got turned on to the jack books in may of this year by my father who has been reading them since the tomb first came out, and (yes im an obsessive reader) finished all of them plus the young jack stories by the last week of june. That series changed my life and i couldnt get enough of jack or wait until the dark at the end, so i devoured the adversary cycle and that series was just as amazing. my advice is to read all of the jack books first, then read the ac and put everything together. i had a lot of fun piecing together the different characters in different stories coming in at random times and the information explains everything so well, especially when youve completed everything. nightworld will top off everything (especially the upcoming edited version which has a lot of cool changes im sure) and make you extremely happy you took the time and comnpleted both series. i loveeeee this story and rj and fpw, youre the mann. me and my father have discussed time and again, to write about jack, you probably have to be or think like him, and thats even cooler! peacee to you
I asked the same question when I was getting started. It was recomended that I read all of RJ (in order) up through fatal error in order then read the AC (in order) before nightworld and the dark at the end. So, I did it that way and it worked out well for Me.
I only wish that bloodline had been available in kindle. I was missing some pieces when I read by the sword.

abegrossman, go on alibris and grab a copy of reprisal for like 2 bucks unless youre looking for a first edition or hardcover. thats where i got mine a while back until i went on a fpw collecting spree

I was one of those people that didn't like reading the Chronicles of Narnia in the order in which they were written (which jumped back and forth). Prequels are not my thing for some reason. So this is the order I suggested to my mother when I suggested the RJ series. Since you've started with the RJ series, it may help you:

I read the Tomb thinking it was just going to be a pleasant diversion, nothing more. After reading the last page, I realized I was hooked. So: I read the three Y/A novels, The Keep, Reborn, The Touch, and am reading the short story collections and various other titles (Black Wind, Virgin) while simultaneously reading the RJ saga. Soon I'll slip Reprisal in the mix as I know it's tangential to the overall story. So I think I'm reading the books/stories in proper order, or at least enough of a proper order to get all the references and crossovers.
To Quikfix228--you read the entire RJ series since May? Holy Rasalom! That's incredible. I read the books slower than most because I love savoring the books a bit at a time and thinking about/anticipating them while I'm living my dull life:o

dude, i was so hooked i could not stop, and i was out of work for the month, so what better to do than overdose on repairman jack and f paul wilson. I have never been so hooked and lost in a story. like iive said in other posts, this dudes stories and characters resonate so well with me and touched me deep down i couldnt help it. ill read em all again when im done with the rest of my huge collection and fpw books.
