That said, my sister raved about "Tin Man"...enough so that I may have to check it out.

Also, the Tin Man IS a science fiction character. Am I the only person on the board who has read enough of the Oz books to see this? Jack Chopper is one heck of a character.

I know what you mean about the SyFy channel, it is very lame nowadays, but Tin Man, while it has its problems, is actually very well done. The biggest complaints I have heard about are regarding the cheap feel, it is a tv movie afterall, and that people don't like Zooey, nothing to help you there if you don't you don't I guess.

I have read The Wizard of Oz and noted the obvious differences and knew there were further differences in the other books. How does he progress through the later books? Is the series pretty good or are there specific books that are better than others?

There are specific books that are better than the others. I love the mechanisms Baum uses to get Dorothy back to Oz before settling on having Ozma bring her in via magic.

And if I could be any character from the Oz books, I think I'd like to be Tik-Tok.
