I just got a ROKU box after using one at a relative's house. It seems pretty cool so far. a fair amount of channels and internet radio. It does Netflix. It also does Playon (which has loads of plug in channels and adds a lot of content). There's also some programmer channels that you can find online.

Anyone have any comments?

We were about to get one to sign up for Netflix last year and a friend told us we could run Netflix thru game systems. We already have a Wii out there so I was glad I didn't buy something I didn't need. But I guess I didn't know the ROKU did anything but run Netflix thru it. Sounds like a lot more.

I have a Roku and I'm seriously in love with it. When my massive headache lets up, I'll list all the things we use it for. Smile

Compared to $90 monthly to directv (I did like them, though) Roku has lots of options and it seems to be on the up and up. I just paid $3 for a netflix browser that shows their entire streaming library by category and sub category, new streaming stuff, up and coming stuff (by this week, 2 weeks, three week, etc), and dropping off stuff. Traffic was so busy I had to wait a couple hours before I could link it to my account. There are also a few developers who are putting private channels on (yes, including porn).

I also found an internet radio station for Jack.fm (which used to be around here, but changed.)Big Grin

Have you checked out the Roku forums? There's a lot of information there.

Oh nice. I have been looking into something to replace my laptop for use in streaming Netflix movies. I had looked at this but hadn't decided.

Great information. Any warnings or things I should be aware of before I make the final step and purchase one of these?

I've had no trouble with ours. We've had it since January. We use it for Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant (I have Prime), Pandora, NBA (they're supposed to be rolling out the League Pass on there), YouTube, and then a bunch of the free Roku channels. There's a ridiculous variety of stuff now. We have the XDS, which can also play music and video from a USB drive. It's pretty awesome.
