In Gia's defense, and a bit off topic, she does have quite a lot to deal with being with Jack. If I was discussing this with Jack at Julios over a cold one, I'd just nod, smile and agree with everything he says, lol.

I don't think Jack minds disagreement, but he is mighty protective where Gia and Vicky are concerned. With good reason.

Well...I'm female and I can't stand Gia. She's wimpy....whiny....and pain in the ass sometimes. But Jack loves her....Rolleyes...so ya put up with it.

Maybe things will change. Wink

I don't mind Gia. I really can say she hasn't annoyed me or anything like that. I get the relationship and don't have to see her as being a tough girl to fit with Jack. I would say, I bet she could throw down with the best of them if Vicky or Jack were in danger.

Isn't that one of the great things about reading and entertainment as a whole? We all read the same thing but take such a widely varying view of what we think about it.

It's cool we can bounce around our thoughts. There have been a lot of times I have not looked at something the way someone else has, and when they mention it, it makes me rethink how I thought about the thing.

As Weezy says in GROUND ZERO, the bad girls love the bad boys. Jack probably found Gia a refreshing change.

The only book I really hated Gia in was All the Rage, when she blamed Jack for
Dragovich (sp?) taking an interest in her house. It was her fault! She was the one who made the people remember her, and the one who stopped the car, and she drove me crazy!!
I generally like her though.

You'd think that Killing people would make them like you, but it doesn't! it just makes people dead.

like the potential spoiler alert Libby Smile

I was actually just thinking that I'd hate to stumble across a spoiler here. I actually came across a spoiler in Wikipedia... everyone can take that as a warning!

As for Gia in general and no offence to our intrepid author, it seems such an American literary thing that there MUST be a love interest and that love interest MUST be a source of weakness for the hero

Is that uniquely American?

And I think Gia is a source of strength for Jack, as she keeps him from getting careless. Fuck up and leave Gia and Vicky alone with Nightworld coming? No, indeed!

Exactly right Blues. I have been in a few sort of awkward situations with my beloved Val which would not have bothered me in the slightest on my own. I can fight or I can back off. But with your lady there you are left with just the one option so you tend to be more careful because of that.

Well, I've never seen one do THAT before
