I can't believe I posted this last year. A year passed but it was released yesterday in Japan.

The Spirit was fantastic action flick like Sin City, I enjoyed it from bottom of my heart. The Spirit is a kind of old-fashioned hero like Dick Tracy.

Samuel Jackson played insane bad guy, Octopus. His followers, stupid clones were wicked funny.

I enjoyed parts, but as a whole, no.

They passed an old woman who was just opening the door of a brown Cadillac. An old man was already sitting in the passenger seat. The car had a personalized plate with the letters “J-U-S-P-R-A-Y”.
“That stuff work?” Israel said to her.
“‘Scuse me?” the little old woman said, clutching her keys.
“The spray. Does it keep them away?”
“Keep who away?” She looked confused.
“I gotcha.” Israel gave her a conspiratorial wink.

I haven't seen it yet, but was kind of turned-off by the trailer. It made Denny Colt look like a tortured urban vigilante, whereas Eisner's original character was more of a two-fisted happy-go-lucky type, whom I always pictured being played by a young James Garner. Maybe the film is different than the trailer, I'll check it out on NetFlix, based on ImDeranged's recommendation.

The film didn't work for me; much too silly. I am enjoying Darwyn Cooke's new take on The Spirit though.
