Couldnt find a thread for this film, which came as quite a surprise considering how good it is!

Excellent story, excellent performances (Casey Affleck not only managed to avoid getting on my nerves, he was rather compelling) and a Private Detective lead character who shares certain surface characteristics with RJ.

I would recommend it to you all. Smile

I accidentally dropped a load of worthless change in the street. I was going to just leave it there but a burly policeman lumbered towards me and said, "You'd better pick that up, son."

I hate coppers.

I really enjoyed that movie too. I think the woman who played the mother won an Oscar for her performance.

I heard good things about the flick too, bones. But I know I'll never watch it.

I just can't take stuff like that.

Thanks for the recommendation. The movie is based on the novel by Dennis Lehane, who also wrote Mystic River (made into a movie by Clint Eastwood).

Amazing movie. I loved the scene in the bar. Some nice twists in it too, although perhaps a little too obvious.

It's an 88 magnum. It shoots through schools.

Bones, I mentioned it once, a few months back, in my "Who should direct Repairman Jack I: Claws of the Rakoshi?" thread, due to the fact that I'd enjoyed it immensely and it was Ben Affleck's first time directing a feature film.

Yes, that Ben Affleck.

I think he did such a good job that I officially added him to my list of directors that I'd accept on the RJ project.

Axioms Jack seems to live by (inadvertantly or not):

Why he does what he does: "I chose this life. I know what I'm doing. And on any given day, I could stop doing it. Today, however, isn't that day. And tomorrow won't be either." Bruce Wayne, Identity Crisis

On Rasalom: "Water's wet, the sky is blue...and good old Satan Claus, Jimmy...he's out there...and he's just gettin' stronger." Joe Hallenbeck, The Last Boyscout

I agree! I saw it recently. This is excellent! Especially, Ed Harris and Morgan Freeman.

Wow, really?

I really liked that movie too!

I didnt figure that the
girl would still be alive
, and I had no idea at all what his final decision would be until
the flashing lights came round the corner behind him.
Which bits did you see coming?

I loved the bar scene too. I wish I could carry a little pistol like that around with me. Then I could be as cheeky as I liked.... ALL THE TIME Wink

I said the exact same thing. I thought his brother showed great talent in this movie and that Ben seemed a better director than actor.

"Sanity? Worthless things like that, I never had them for as long as I can remember!"
