I have my stack of books to read. I almost started Conspiracies before Legacies. Cobalt pointed out my error and suggested I do a search for the proper reading order. I found the unofficial F Paul Wilson Wiki. Thanks Stephanie! A shit load of info I delved into way before I should have. All the facts and cross references made my brain do a spin. I'll start reading Legacies next and take the slow route.
When would it be best to read The Adversary Cycle? I think I know where I can borrow the books. At least I hope so. Wink

My first RJ novel was Legacies. A friend from work lent it to me and I was pretty mcuh hooked. I then got The Tomb and Conspiracies.

For the longest time I thought those were the only RJ novels. Then I found this site during my last tour in Iraq. I'm not nearly as far along as others here and my next book to read is Infernal.

I also read The Keep about a year ago and I think that is now my favorite FPW novel so far.

Sigokat...I hope things are going so well in Iraq that you get all your excitement from reading about Jack's encounters. Thank you for your service.
Not to worry about the order of sequels. I began with "All The Rage". Then I think I picked up "Hosts", then "Infernal", and finally realized I should find out what the order was that I should be following. Due to the lack of availability, I still did a couple more out of order, but I found that it was easy to keep up because F.P. goes to ample extremes to recant matters when he knows past details are needed to keep you up to snuff.

Automatic Jack Wrote:Just wondering, seeing as I'm likely not to get any sleep tonight, which of the novels was your first? By which I mean, which one of the books precipitated your transition from RJ virgin to full-blown Jackaholic? (Forgive me if this is a repeat of another thread.)

As for me, I was very fond of Masque before I'd even heard of the RJ books, but one day I was surfing the library shelves and the bright green of Hosts caught my eye. I kind of wish I could recapture that feeling of simply jumping into the series without any background knowledge of the previous books; other than a few references to "that event", it was fairly stand-alone. And it was early enough that the meaning of certain motifs, like women with dogs, wasn't as imperative to my understanding.

If you'll recall, Hosts also starts out from the POV of a character other than RJ, which added to the unsettling feeling of reading out of order. I can't quite remember what I thought about it, except that I must have liked it enough to immediately borrow the whole series. I guess for me, you could say Hosts was a "Gateway" novel, har dee har.

And then after I was hooked, I'd fully read up to Haunted Air before even getting my hands on a copy of The Tomb, because the library had every book except the first one Rolleyes So it was very interesting to read the series backwards like I did. The characters and events are revealed in a slightly skewed manner that you wouldn't get from reading them chronologically. Of course I'm forced to go at them in order from now on, since whenever a new one comes out I read it immediately!

I read "The Tomb" way back when there were no other books, and as far as I knew, no intentions on making anymore. One day, shortly after getting the internet, I discovered Repairman Jack was alive and well and had several more books written about him. "Hosts' was just about to come out, so I ordered all the other books to catch up. That was fun!
